This is from Whitley's newsletter, so I don't have a link... quote:
Whitley Strieber's Unknowncountry.com NewsletterSenate to Consider Vitamin Ban The World Trade Organization’s food and drug regulatory body is controlled by big drug companies, and they are trying to use it to make all but the smallest doses of vitamins illegal to purchase without a prescription worldwide. The Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2003, Senate Bill 722, would do just that in the US, by effectively regulating out of existence the sale of almost all vitamin supplements at higher potencies, except by prescription. The bill has been introduced by Democratic Senator Dick Durbin, a strong advocate of the WTO and sponsor of much pro-drug company legislation. To help prevent this sellout of the American people to Big Drugs, write in protest to Senate Bill 722 to your senators. Tell them what many of them don’t know: SB 722 is NOT TRUTHFUL in its intentions. It will open the door to devastatingly harsh regulation. Senators Hillary Clinton of New York and Diane Feinstein of California have also declared themselves in support of the bill. Find out how to contact your senators here. Supplement Group Found to Reduce Cancer Risk
At a time when the US Senate is considering making large-dose vitamins unavailable to the American public except with prescriptions at drug prices, an extensive study has revealed that a specific mega-dose supplement group can dramatically reduce cancer risk. A total of 13,000 men and women aged 30 to 65 took part in the study, which found that regular use of a particular supplement group reduced cancer risk 37% in men and 31% in women. The supplement group is: 6mg of beta-carotene, 120mg of vitamin C, 90mg of vitamin E, 100 micrograms of selenium, and 20 milligrams of zinc. Under SB 722, supplements at these dosages would be available only as prescription drugs. To read more about the study click here.

Vitamin Story Follow-upFrom: Whitley Strieber's Unknowncountry.com Newsletter dated August 7, 2003 A number of you wrote either saying that you’d read Senate Bill 722 and it didn’t look all that bad, or asking for more information. First, the bill is very cleverly written. It is designed to sneak past the Senate. But it has the effect of enabling the FDA to claim jurisdiction over any vitamin product that anybody complains about at all, and subject it to demands for elaborate and protracted study. Thus a product that has been around for years and is part of every meal we eat could come under scrutiny similar to a new, untested drug. And you can be sure that the drug companies will make certain that there are complaints about every single vitamin product on the market. The National Nutritional Foods Association offers excellent information about this bill. To go to their website, click http://www.nnfa.org/. As word of this horrible bill spreads, their site is getting heavy usage. It may load slowly. Their Advocacy Action Center address is: http://capwiz.com/nnfa/home/

I know I don't want a lobbyist for big drug companies defining what is "potent and dangerous" and what isn't.If the WTO is indeed involved in this..the whole thing stinks and should most certainly be flushed down the toilet like the CRAP globalist legislation it is. Your "Leaders" want to take your daily vitamins away. Senate Bill 722 (Durbin) http://www.unknowncountry.com/news/?id=2984
Senate Bill: Vitamins Only by Prescription 06-Aug-2003 The World Trade Organization's food and drug regulatory body is controlled by big drug companies, and they are trying to use it to make all but the smallest doses of vitamins illegal to purchase without a prescription worldwide. This is happening at the same time a study has revealed that a daily mega- dose of 5 vitamins can dramatically reduce cancer. The Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2003, Senate Bill 722, would effectively regulate out of existence the sale of almost all vitamin supplements at higher potencies, except by prescription. The bill has been introduced by Democratic Senator Dick Durbin, a strong advocate of the WTO and sponsor of much pro-drug company legislation. Senators Hillary Clinton of New York and Diane Feinstein of California have also declared themselves in support of the bill. Contact your senators ( http://www.senate.gov/ ). If you want to join the fight, help the National Nutritional Food Association in its battle against Durban's bill. At a time when U.S. Senators want to make large-dose vitamins unavailable except with prescriptions at drug prices, a new study shows that a specific mega-dose of 5 supplements dramatically reduces the risk of cancer. http://www.citizenshealth.org/AAHF.htm Your access to dietary supplements is threatened. The "Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2003," introduced by Senator Durbin (D-IL) is a very serious threat to the supplement industry and your individual health freedom. Despite its name, this bill would allow no more consumer protection than current law provides. It will, however, grant the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) more authority and directly violate your health freedom. Under this ruling, the FDA could pull any dietary supplement off the market based on a single reported consumer "adverse experience". Call your Senator today urging him/her to oppose S.722. Unless you don’t mind the FDA controlling which supplements you purchase. Do you want the FDA to have more control? Without opposition, this bill can easily be added to existing Senate legislation at any time, posing a serious threat to the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) and your freedom of choice in health care. Senator Durbin indicated that he is ready to offer his bill as an amendment to the Agriculture/FDA spending bill when the full Senate considers it. And Senators Clinton (D-NY) and Feinstein (D-CA) have signed on as cosponsors. This is serious. Oppose this Legislation! Take action now The FDA currently has all the necessary enforcement power to protect the public from unsafe or illegal dietary supplements. They currently have the authority to regulate the types of ingredients that can be used in dietary supplements, the potency and purity of those ingredients, and the claims that can be made on behalf of these products. This bill would subject nearly all vitamins, minerals, herbal products and other supplements to a level of scrutiny that is unwarranted, unnecessary and expensive. It completely undermines the primary goal of DSHEA to restrain the FDA’s historical abuse of discretionary authority over dietary supplements. We need your help NOW to make a difference! * Visit the American Association for Health Freedom’s Legislative Action Center by following the link http://www.capwiz.com/apma/home/ and call or write to your Senator, urging him/her to oppose S.722 today (a copy of the letter is on the back). * Forward this information to everyone you know that is interested in protecting their health freedom and urge them to take action today. * Support AAHF’s lobbying efforts. … Thank you for your immediate attention and action to help defeat this bill. Every letter written and every phone call helps. When we go to Capitol Hill and speak with the Senators and their staff, they always want to know what their constituents think … so be sure to tell them that you oppose S.722.
