DIOXINS From Plastic

From: P Dalton | pdalton@uneedspeed.net

Carcinogens cause cancer. Especially breast cancer. Don't freeze yourplastic water bottles with water as this also releases dioxins in theplastic. Dr. Edward Fujimoto from Castle Hospital was on a TV programexplaining this health hazard. He is the manager of the Wellness Programat the hospital. He was talking about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave usingplastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat. He said thatthe combination of fat, high heat and plastics releases dioxins into thefood and ultimately into the cells of the body. Dioxins are carcinogensand highly toxic to the cells of our bodies. Instead, he recommends usingglass, Corning Ware, or ceramic containers for heating food. You get thesame results without the dioxins.

So ! ! such things as TV dinners, weight watchers dinners, lean cuisinedinners, instant ramen cup of noodles, and soups, etc., should be removedfrom the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but youdon't know what is in the paper. Just safer to use tempered glass, CorningWare, etc.

He said we might remember when some of the fast food restaurants moved awayfrom the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of thereasons. To add to this: saran wrap placed over foods as they are nuked, with the high heat, actually drips poisonous toxins into the food, so usepaper towels instead.

Pass this on to your friends...

No probs..

If there is one thing we all can agree apon is our desire for good health for ourselves and our families.

But let's not lets some beauracrats decide what is healthy for us and what isn't.

Plastics can do nasty things when heated.

Don't use PVC siding!

Given the pervasiveness and persistence of dioxin and similar chlorinated chemicals it is highly likely that there are traces in all the food, water, and air that we consume.

Most of the food I buy is packed in plastic. I'm drinking water from an old plastic jug repeatedly frozen. The shit is everywhere, I can't avoid it. Trying to avoid microwave altogether.

If one chooses to use paper besides plastic for food cover, should there be concern for the dioxin present in the paper from the chlorine bleaching process it undoubtably went through?

These toxins bio-accumulate, meaning they build concentrations moving up the food chain, ultimately deposting in fatty tissues of us, which we carry to our death (or pass on to our young through breast milk) where they eventually end up back in the environment. Whether our decomposing corpses slowly leak this material into the soil and ground water, or they are released quickly during cremation/incineration, rest assured the toxics we carry will add to contamination for generations.

Wanna read some good dirt on plastics and more specifically the 'gender bender' qualities associated with them? check out Dr. Theo Colborn (sp?) and her book 'Our Stolen Future'.
