The way you look at me with your one good eye perched atop the shed pilled high with branches just for you and your friends~~~Your puffed-out feathers tell me something's wrong,,, I quietly walk over to where you sit and gather you up tenderly in my hands and bring you in from the cold. Look at you now perched on the back of the couch,,, painfully I witness your plight~ With one good eye open, you frantically bob up and down,,, as if against your will,,, you madly hop,,, ,,then turn in a circle,, in the direction of your bad eye, then hide your head under your wing~~~ and try to rest, but rest comes not for soon the bobbing starts again. I fear that your brain is damaged. I play a sparrow song for you on my computer~~~ you *call* back and I play the song again and again,,, just to hear you sing. You are warm and in good company, my sparrow friend, on your last night here on earth. The night is long. Warmth slowly fades and leaves on a cold grey dawn. I will push back the snow today and bury your little body. My tears will mark your grave.

Perfect for Pink Floyd! Check out Bush's "The Science Of Thing's" Didn't get much airplay considering all of the past radio success they have had. Listen well to that c.d. and you will figure out why. Later, afraidofsunlight

Our birds don't sing, no not this spring, nor wing they its foul play.I felt Lu's sadness her bird is ours a moment of tenderness in lost hours. And birds are the child that plays in grey heartfelt suffering their lot today. No, this rhyme has meaning, it must, I say. For whatever else I know the birds are we and we and we.

No worst, there is none. Pitched past pitch of grief, More pangs will, schooled at forepangs, wilder wring. Comforter, where, where is your comforting? Mary, mother of us, where is your relief? My cries heave, herds-long; huddled in a main, a chief - Woe, world-sorrow, on an age-old anvil wince and sing -- Then lull, then leave off. Fury has shrieked "No ling - Ering! Let me be fell: force I must be brief."O' the mind, mind has mountains; cliffs of fall Frightful, sheer, no-man fathomed. Hold them cheap May who ne'er hung there. Nor does long our small Durance deal with that steep or deep. Here! creep, wretch, under a comfort serves in a whirlwind: all life death does end and each day dies with sleep. "No Worst, There is None" (1884-1885) by Gerard Manley Hopkins

Margaret, are you grieving Over Goldengrove unleaving? Leaves, like the things of man, you With your fresh thoughts care for, can you? Ah! as the heart grows older It will come to such sights colder By and by, nor spare a sigh Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie; And yet you will weep and know why. Now, no matter, child, the name: Sorrow's springs are the same. Nor mouth had, no nor mind expressed What heart heard of, ghost guessed. It is the blight man was born for, It is Margaret you mourn for."Spring and Fall" (1880) to a young child by Gerald Manley Hopkins (1844-1889)
