The way you look at me
with your one good eye
perched atop the shed
pilled high with branches
just for you and your
friends~~~

Your puffed-out feathers
tell me something's wrong,,,
I quietly walk over to where you
sit and gather you up tenderly
in my hands and bring you in
from the cold.

Look at you now perched
on the back of the couch,,,
painfully I witness your plight~

With one good eye open,
you frantically bob
up and down,,, as if against
your will,,, you madly hop,,,
,,then turn in a circle,,
in the direction of your
bad eye,
then hide your head
under your wing~~~
and try to rest,
but rest comes not
for soon the bobbing starts
again.

I fear that your brain is damaged.

I play a sparrow song
for you on my computer~~~
you *call* back
and I play the song again
and again,,, just to hear
you sing.

You are warm and in good
company, my sparrow friend,
on your last night here
on earth.

The night is long.
Warmth slowly fades
and leaves on a cold
grey dawn.

I will push back the snow
today and bury your
little body.

My tears will mark your grave.

birds song legasy
klinton tragity
the sprays kill all the young wings that
fly upon the grey skys they sprayed
to mark their destiny

could could you hear the droneing flights
as they paint your skys at night
you you tremble nietht the downfall
in the shadow lights

you you pull back the snow
you you you have come to know
that the tommorrow never gathers the
promice of a future as the dawning
of a ~saTanik~ light smothers
every thing living
within its "light"

but but you pull back the snow
and and i want you to know
that the pain lingers ever onward as the
tears roll down mine cheeks
on toward the floor

as the crystal snow parts
its flame
and one eyed bird departs
this plane
thank god that someone cared
to share the warmth as the bird departed
sailed beyond the norm
and looked upon with remaining eye
to cast a light
and make feeling about life
wisp away the artificail cold snow
from these grounded places
we perch upon as we ing againn
st insainity s song
regurgitating webs and slating them
front and center into the light
we gather tonight
rather we live basked against a warm fire
lite in the distant full moon
we breath deep and smile satisfyied with our
meal and companionship sail ling contently
while mean while the demon plots
and sceeams and makes a lie ensence say ahs
and marks the public with web responces that
say he/she/it is a number one hit

while mark sky rolls a naughther ember on the fire and sore throat sings a song

the beast for this night is on the ridge above and we the people have a strong camp fire with
sparrkles snapping and sending embers flying
to the skys

a nouhghther log upon the fire sends

Perfect for Pink Floyd!
Check out Bush's "The Science Of Thing's"
Didn't get much airplay considering all of the past radio success they have had.
Listen well to that c.d. and you will figure out why.

Later,

the pain lingers on
the snow that is not snow
lingers on
covering the once-warm
body of one i loved
for a moment in time
the only sparrow song
to be heard in the
cold grey dawn is but
a faded echo~
if you listen
you may still hear it

Hi Lulu
I see you came back here
(monitor on high gain)
and i did too
so how is it going with you
we had very blue skys today
and i might catch life yet
with a few streaky bar flys "clouds"
hanging tendrils down under
making their way by
the big action today
seemed to be off the coast
of LA
where ships layed patterns
of dismay

Hi Mark
turn it up high
my mind is all mine
the last of the real
cloud front blew away
and my blue eyes delight
in the hues of blue
au natural seen at dusk
in the unlined sky~
but at sea the brew
boils and waits til
we're smug in our chemfree
bliss to lay the next
kiss

Our birds don't sing,
no not this spring,
nor wing they
its foul play.

I felt Lu's sadness
her bird is ours
a moment of tenderness
in lost hours.

And birds are the
child that plays in grey
heartfelt suffering
their lot today.

No, this rhyme
has meaning,
it must,
I say.

For whatever else I know
the birds
are we
and we
and we.

No worst, there is none. Pitched past pitch
of grief,
More pangs will, schooled at forepangs,
wilder wring.
Comforter, where, where is your comforting?
Mary, mother of us, where is your relief?
My cries heave, herds-long; huddled
in a main, a chief -
Woe, world-sorrow, on an
age-old anvil wince and sing --
Then lull, then leave off. Fury has
shrieked "No ling -
Ering! Let me be fell: force I
must be brief."

O' the mind, mind has mountains;
cliffs of fall
Frightful, sheer, no-man fathomed.
Hold them cheap
May who ne'er hung there. Nor
does long our small
Durance deal with that steep or deep.
Here! creep,
wretch, under a comfort serves
in a whirlwind: all
life death does end and
each day dies with sleep.

"No Worst, There is None" (1884-1885)

Margaret, are you grieving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leaves, like the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! as the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you will weep and know why.
Now, no matter, child, the name:
Sorrow's springs are the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed.
It is the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.

"Spring and Fall" (1880) to a young child by
Gerald Manley Hopkins (1844-1889)
