those shades of grey
are quite a sight

wouldn't you agree?
there's more than meets the eye
than ordinary ice crystals
gut instinct hasn't learned to lie
and mine is telling me

a sky like this shouldn't be

a night launch
or a launch in day
is fine by me
no difference really
wouldn't you say?

the sun is sorely absent from both
night and day that is
and the moon is all confused
doesn't sleep when it should
parties 24/7 in the chem layer

and my lifeless skin is getting
greyer

the rum-drinking poet laureate
mark sky has dropped by to see
what his inspiration caused to be
splashing crayolas endlessly

took flight and just how unlimited

tucked in our beds all safe and warm

what a trip it's been so far
is there land in sight?
will the good ship sail on through
the night to dawn
a golden sun
in a deep blue sky rises
gone the holograms

and mid-afternoon chemsets
colored wrong
the flat dead-looking
landscapes of shadowless gloom
2D memories of a song once sung
will we be next to follow our
shadows into nothingness?

lucid and real time
no blueprints on how
to break free
of the bars we created to
hold
ourselves in
these lines
woven through the

grid

how far back does this
pattern go?
were we asleep then
not seeing those mysterious
lines in the sky?

and just now
are waking to our own
demise?
what will our once-blue skies
look like tomorrow?

will there be a to mor row?

our children
have a right to know

how much further
does this rabbit hole go?

the abyss is starting to look back

and claustraphobia makes it hard
to breathe
the walls are closing in
burnt-orange sunsets are the norm
it seems just ask any meteorologist
if that color is on the list
and they will tell you

of course it is

the sky has always
looked that way get a grip
and a life and go away

the segment pale pink
a rare wine
a swirling vortex that stands
like a soilder funnel cloud
totem-pole-like proud

fear not getting lost
when the steel bird carries you
aloft on pastel winds
an X marks the spot and assures
safe return when auto pilot
is autoaccidently shut off

the forecast for the day is slight
obscuration of the sky and sun
due to ice clouds gone astray
we do not know how long this visual
interuption will be but I'm sure
you'll be too distracted by your tv
to even notice the funky chicken
has taken a walk over your head

humidity never had it so good
fingerprints of the gods?
a cosmic dusting if you will
icing sugar crystals sprinkled
by caring planes so that
our neighbours can be seen by all
I don't think so
but if you want to believe that crap
it's your call
