Mister Sandman, why do you not come my way?....It's cooler now, "Good sleeping weather," they say....I drank some warm milk and counted my sheep....Yet, still you don't come to bring me some sleep!!....I meditate, pray, count backwards from 10,....Yet everynite, it's the same, again and again!....You tease me and taunt me when I'm playin on-line,....I get drowsy, start thinkin, "Tonite I'll sleep fine"!....I shut down my puter and head straight for the bed,....Even got a satin pillow for to rest my head!....I curl up and snuggle and wait for a sign,....That soon you'll be coming and "dreamland" I'll find.++++I have a "teddy" to wear and a "Teddy" to hold,....I've got on my "fuzzies" to keep my feet from the cold....I toss and I turn and I look for my "spot", just like my dogs do, when they're tired and hot....They circle around til they find things "just right"!...Then they cuddle up nicely and are done for the night!....While I lay here and wait for you, good ole "Sandy".....I can see this night is gonna be, oh, just so "dandy"!....You B******, You skipped my house, you're so very rude,....You are a "pompous ole "sand bag", a rite nasty dude!....Would love to sleep and dream of sweet things,....Instead, I get "raccoon eyes", all circled with "rings"!....Sandman, ya better "haul butt" over to me and my bed,....If ya can't give me sleep, massage my feet instead!....That might help and get me to sleep like a baby!....Just do SOMETHING already Mister S., and I don't mean maybe!....Come work your magic, let me "float on a cloud".....Just do something, already, for crying out loud!!!! Sweet dreams to all, Joanne ^j^

Well, I never thought, as through postings I scan, To find such a poetess as our own Joanne,But my joy at her talent is tempered by grief For the cares of her life steal her rest like a thief! With all of her posts, I believed that she must Fall asleep right away, sleep the sleep of the just, Would a glass of wine help? A bottle of beer? No, I don't think a drink would bring sleepy-time near. Perhaps if just before going to bed, She put on her sweats, ran five miles instead... But no, I can see that would take too much time, She might be arrested, it could be a crime She could get a ticket, she could get a warning For running around at three in the morning! But what can we think of to help her to sleep? (We know that she's tried to count jumping sheep) I know! Now I know! Why, my posts are so boring, I'll write one - she'll read it - and soon she'll be snoring!

Delphi, you aren't by any chance taking your Zoloft at night are you? If you are...change to AM. It will wire you up if you take it at night. Or...you could try reading the first few chapters or I Chronicles. All those begats ought to make you nod right off! Jabez is interesting, however. Z-Z-Z-Z. Scanner

Duncan, Your poem was really sweet and cute as the dickens! Actually, I excercise 5 days a week for 30/45 min. each day, (gravity rider, and other dealys), and I do read books sometimes before bed, take my Zoloft in the a.m.......Hmmmm, the only thing I haven't tried is reading more of Duncans posts! Sorry Duncan, just couldn't resist...you kinda gave me the "opening" for that one...though, your posts are fine, was just kiddin!++++Thanx Scanner for your input too...I been this way most of my life...oughtta get used to it, I guess, just seems to be worse than usual lately. Silly ole me. D., can't try the beer or wine, won't mix good with all my prescription meds. Alas, you'll have to send me a tape of you singing a lullaby!! Blessings to ya'll, Love, Joanne ^j^ P.S. Maybe that is how and why I sometimes get prophetic dreams, sleep very little, but when I do, the unconscious has to work "overtime", or something?? J. ^j^

Sometimes at our age subliminal pain keeps us awake. Have you tried taking ibuprobfen, tylenol or some other analgesic just before bedtime? Or you might try a glass of milk. Even if you don't sleep, you'll be helping the dairy farmers!

Great poems Delphi & Duncan. I could never come up with rhymes like that.I can't help but think of Delphi in a teddy trying to find her 'spot'. (Sorry). I've been on the anti-depressant merry-go-round too. For me, the jury's still out on whether or not they work, but I trust them more than I used to, for limited lengths of time?

With my luck, I'll finally get to sleep and "Freddie Krueger" will come to pay a visit....I'd much prefer "Mel Gibson" myself!! Oh well, twiddle-dee-dee, guess I'll go post some more or star-gaze on the deck...is beautiful and crisp and clear tonite inspite of chems in the late afternoon here. Sleep tight all...I'll continue to wait for Mr. Sandman or the "tooth-fairy" even, does she take dentures even? (just kiddin). Nite, Joanne ^j^ ^j^

Tweedle-dee-dee, tweedle-dee-dum....it's almost 4:30 and Sandy still didn't come,...He's busy tucking others into their soft lil beds,...And they have sweet dreams dance in their heads!....While I sit here typing, a "lone cyber-nut",...Haven't got a clue how to get out of this rut!...So I type and I surf and ponder and read,...And wait for the Sandman to do his kind deed....But it dosen't look hopeful, that tonite he'll appear,....There's no sign of "moon-dust" any where near!....No sign at all, he'll be showing up here....So I'll go out on the deck and contemplate Mars,...And patiently wait while I start counting stars!....And hope that a cloud brings Sandman right to my deck,...and finally bring sleep, so I'm not such a wreck!....Would love to nod off and sail on a cloud,....So Sandman, please hear me, for cryin out loud!! Nite-all, Blessings, Joanne ^j^

Scanner may be right about the Zoloft, Delphi. I use exercise for the most part, but still have trouble getting to sleep too. I also need to compartmentalize thinking patterns, learn to turn off trains of thought and get more into a routine, but without it becoming a rut.I also use visualization/breathing techniques sometimes, inhale blue & green (relaxation), and exhale red & yellow (tension/anger/hate). I've done this before and it seems to work, when I remember it. I can also visualize the white light (love/protection) beaming down and filling you with happiness and security, pushing out the darkness of fear. Thinking about church hymns can also work. I like, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing..." Works for me, if I'm not too caught up in earthly problems to remember my own guardian angel(s).

I'm Baaaack! Got my internet back up and running, thank heaven. I had no idea what to do with myself without my internet fix, lol.Jo, I sure can sympathize with you as far as the insomnia thing goes, I've had it for almost a week now every night. I'd never had a problem with it until I went on meds on Monday for this stupid flu bug. I'm on four prescriptions total, three for flu and one for depression, and they're making me wacky. Insomnia stinks. ~SD

Blessings and "garlic" to all, til next time, Jo ^j^

Lol, Wolf Lake kicks butt! I enjoy it tremendously, even if it does tend to perpetuate people viewing wolves as frightening, or "bad." It's an entertaining way to spend an evening.
