Taking an animal for food is not pretty, but I am grateful for what nature can provide me with. And as FLKook stated..we are here to take care of the planet. Those words are almost exactly the same language as native tribes use to explain our purpose in being here. We take care of the environment..so it takes care of us. Unfortunately, our society has become self-destructive so we have to ask ourselves...what kind of a world do we want to leave for the seventh generation beyond us?

Kook, I don't think "Magic of the marketplace" is a one-size-fits-all solution to all of our problems, likewise a government solution. I have little trust of either of those institutions at this point. I always thought "the people" had the power in a democracy but now I know better.

One more thing...You don't dismiss an entire progressive idea like environmentalism just because a few extremists like ALF/ELF resort to criminal acts. Just like I don't dismiss the good work that Christians or Muslims do for their communities just because THEY TOO have extremist elements.

Fundamentalism in any form can result in this type of behavior.Seeing things totally in black or white terms tend to make you as miserable and twisted and PC as the unibomber.

OK, again I am seriously thinking of getting out of the United Snakes of AmeriKKKa. Not because I don't love it. It is because of idiots like yourself are running it. AmeriKKKa is the new Nazi Nest. if I did run this country, crooks like ted kennedy would be in jail serving time for mary jo's death...the war on drugs would end and all that money (15 billion, I think) would go straight to K-12 education...all of it...smart people don't make stupid decisions...drugs are substances that make people do things they normally would not do to obtain the drugs, steal, assault, murder....pot is not in that catagory...and it is time for the "madness" to stop...period...

I don't focus well during the day, too many distractions ...but I will address this one...

I agree with you on Ted Kennedy. Occasionally he will come up with something illuminating, but he'll go where the money or clit is. As a matter of fact, back in 1965, Tim Leary went in front of him and asked not to make LSD illegal. Keep it in Academic and medical circles to determine it's efficacy. Leary said that if it was made illegal, a black market would occur, and it could damage a lot of minds. Kennedy said to Leary, "no, we are throwing it into Class 1." The rest is history. So you see, Leary tried to stop this, but Ted Kennedy actually created the War on Drugs, not even Nixon. Folklore has made Leary the bad guy. I knew Leary personally, and was saddened by his passing. He was a kind and gentle person that got bad press. Kennedy is a hog by all accounts, although (you won't agree) he is hesitant against conquering the world. Maybe because it's the popular thing to do and would lose votes in Massachusetts. Couldn't be his conscience.

I believe the best way to drug education is to tell kids the dangers and benefits of various drugs. Some such as heroin, speed, PCP, should be shunned. Others such as LSD, Ecstasy, Pot, and mushrooms have better potetial, but are dangerous if used as party drugs. My wife and I tried Ecstasy and LSD when they were legal. We saw the danger and potential in them at the time. 1965 for LSD and 1978 for Ecstasy. The problem is this: If we keep telling kids the dangers and someone tries it and likes it, the adults warnings are not believed. Then nothing parents says is believed. Pot should be legal, period for anyone over 21. Other non-linear drugs (LSD, mushrooms, XTC, Peyote) are a controversial area. They can illuminate as well as derange. What the Europeans have come up with seems to make sense. Prescribe single doses of psychoactive plants and chemicals by a doctor to people over 21 who show to be of sound mind. The doctor at Stanford who gave us MDMA back in '78 was using it for marriage counseling. We didn't have problems, but he was writing a book and wanted to see various couples reactions to it. The results were this: one year of psychotherapy could not produce the effects of one MDMA session. There os course the positive results with alcoholics and LSD. My mother-in-law is a terrible alcoholic, so I see the failures of AA and other groups. LSD would literally suspend neural imprints that keep you drinking and you could replace them with more positive imprints. Getting back to Kennedy, his single assinine vote has caused untold suffering, both from overdoses and bad trips, and kept these potential mind-healing substances out of the hands of doctors and scientists.

pot is all I am in favor of legalizing...the other stuff gets too complicated and dangerous for the average pundant...I once watched a guy bite his own finger off while he was on acid...was not pleasant...

As far as timewve zero is concerned? You'll have to ask the Mayans. I don't think the human race is about to take the "giant leap" of conciousness to the next level. From what I see, our society is about to collapse and fall apart at the seams. Things are really bad and it would be a denial of the facts to believe that we are on our way to "enlightentment". I wish we were....but think again....and be prepared for the worst.

On the subject of Ecstasy. I tried MDMA in the 70's when it was legal and coming from a legit drug company. There is a ceiling amout with XTC. If you take over a certain amount, it will not have any more effect than a lower amount. What is passing as XTC nowadays is a poisoned version of the real thing. They have found PCP, heroin, cocaine, Strycnine, and caffeine in confiscated tablets. The CIA, Mafia, and terrorist groups now have their mitts in XTC trade, with it's obvoius distructive results. I repeat Ecstasy IS NOT A PARTY DRUG. It is a powerful tool that Neuronauts and doctors are well aware of. and know how to properly administer. Those kids that OD'd on them probsbly took one of the tainted versions and the parents/guardians were pretty stupid. When kids take them at all night raves, some will dance for hours, not drink water, then collapse. This is exactly what happened with Tim Leary, Ted Kennedy, and LSD back in '65. Leary warned of the dangers of making potent mind drugs liilegal and taking them out of the hands of the doctors. Alexander Shulgin and Ronald Hoffman warned of the same dangers of making MDMA illegal. This is not the same as heroin, cocaine, PCP, and Speed whose physical effects can kill.

While most of this country’s law enforcement agencies are busy seeking out and investigating suspected foreign terrorists, the Drug Enforcement Agency has continued on its quest to find new ways to turn law abiding Americans into criminals. On October 9, 2001, while the nation’s news outlets were distracted by the “War on Terrorism,” the DEA expanded it’s “War on Drugs” to include food and beverages. Specifically, those made from or containing hemp seeds.

The growing $5-million hemp food industry employs thousands and produces a wide array of organic, healthy foods such as pretzels, chips, granola bars, cereal, cheese and salad dressings. Numerous studies have shown that hemp seeds are a perfect nutritional source. The flavorful, high-protein seeds supply all essential amino acids and a high concentration of the fatty acids that are recommended for a balanced diet.

But the DEA has decided, without approval from Congress, or public notice, that because the hemp seed is related to marijuana, it too should be prohibited for human consumption. Claiming that hemp seeds contain THC (the active drug in pot), the DEA has classified these healthy, organic foods as dangerous, illegal contraband.

The fact is, if these seeds, which must be sterilized before entering the U.S., have any THC at all, it is such an infinitesimal amount that they have no psychoactive effect. They are as likely to be abused as poppy seeds, which have trace amounts of opium. In fact, poppy seeds contain enough opiates to trigger a positive drug test. Hemp seeds do not. The DEA, however, has no plans to ban poppy seeds.

So, why is the DEA banning food with no practical psychoactive use? They claim that the new rules are being enacted “to protect public health and safety.” Without a single case of someone actually getting high from hemp food, they feel the need to protect us? Yeah, right.

Here’s the real reason: Fear. Fear of the industrial hemp lobby, which has been building nationwide support among farmers and progressive businessmen over the last decade. This grassroots effort wants to legalize the farming of industrial hemp plants to make food, fabric and fuel. In June 2000, former drug czar General Barry McCaffrey expressed concern that the growing use of hemp products is “confounding our federal drug control programs.” In other words, the growing presence of non-drug products labeled “hemp,” often accompanied by a hemp (pot) leaf logo, is helping to legitimize marijuana.

I don't believe that hemp’s connection to pot is an acceptable reason to ban healthy foods. If you agree, contact your elected representatives and fax the DEA at (202) 307-8570.

How is it that private banks are responsible for issuing your currency? How is it that they are allowed to charge ridiculous interest rates on what they issue? By decree, this was supposed to be the responsibility of your government, which could create its own currency without charging interest.

Do you realize your congress could dismiss these banks in an instant if it so wished? But don't ever count on it. More important matters are pressing. The upcoming election needs investment.

These very same money men are the ones who, through unmonitored and unrepresentative world committees, are driving countries like Argentina into hopeless debt and social upheaval. These greedy overlords are creating strife and suffering on a scale too tragic for words in nation after nation. Just look at Africa.

They've got their sights on America, now, too; disrupting economic stability through so-called free trade initiatives and provisions for special favors and the endless flow of cash to corporate monstrosities like Enron.

Amid all this, where are those who are supposed to represent your interests, America? For the most part, your congressional representatives are nothing but swine gathering at the corporate troughs. Your president is a white-collar thug, a hypocrite who through his actions celebrates war, repression and greed even as he gives lip service to peace, freedom and justice.

George W. Bush deceives you daily, the war monger hiding behind a phony patriotism. He is an Enron buddy boy, a spoiled child lying in his teeth about his past and current dirty deeds.

Does he care about you America? Hardly. This is altogether obvious to those outside your borders who are politically aware and awake to the world around them.

You were never concerned about the disgraceful practices of George's ruthless father, either, a Bin-Laden cohort and friend to criminals and killers in global drug, oil and terrorist enterprises. Iran. Vietnam. El Salvador. Chile. Guatemala. Iraq. And on and on. The never-ending bully-boy story of blood, guns, drugs and money.

Does any of this matter? No, it's simply time to eat.

Go get your ten-billionth burger, America. Fatten your already fat asses with bacteria-and-hormone-ridden meat and do nothing as you sit stupefied before your mind-numbing television sets awaiting the next episode of sad families being humiliated on "Cops."

Few among you are the least bit concerned that no real investigation of 911 has taken place, that no serious investigation of the anthrax attacks is moving forward, that no authentic investigation of Enron, or the murder of one of its top executives, is underway.

How many of you give the slightest damn about the totalitarian measures your government is taking to keep its secret meetings, grubby files and treasonous activities from your eyes?

When did you stop caring, America? Was it after your own FBI and intelligence agencies plotted the murder of President John F. Kennedy? Or is this just the raving lunacy of the conspiracy nut? What does your gut tell you, America? Is something a little amiss here?

Forget about it. Have some Pepto-Bismol.

Today, in futility, your own government goes to court against itself for information you are entitled to by law. But this is hardly deemed vital news in the community. It is a fleeting reference in an electronic sea of meaningless banter. For proof, just look to all the spineless wimps who constitute your mainstream news media.

Today, you excoriate, ridicule and ostracize the brave and true among you. Your best investigative journalists are fired from their jobs and ignored. Congress's few courageous souls are laughed at and dismissed out of hand as crackpots. The most honest and conscientious political leader in the country, Ralph Nader, is a powerless, near-invisible curiosity easily side-lined by hired goons.

America, you are a goddamn shame.

What law matters now in your despicable state? What justice? What truth?

When will you wake up?

If you had your druthers, you would right now gather your courage, take to the streets and march on Washington D.C in the millions. But I know you will do no such thing. The vast majority of you are spiritually, emotionally and intellectually dead.

As I write these words, I can only imagine what additional horrors your shadow government might be planning in what will surely be an attempt to justify militarism and totalitarianism on a universal scale. A nuclear explosion in one of your cities, perhaps? A massive bio-chemical attack?

Or perhaps it will be some Arab terrorist who finally commits the terrible deed, his last thought before death being the promises you made to him before you killed his family.'
