quote:
First of all, they won't look at you
This is nonsense. I'm sure everyone on this forum has lost track of how many times someone has looked them dead in the eyes and lied throught their teeth.
quote:
Second of all, they repeat the question you ask them
Another 'amateur liars' response. This might work on on a five year old, but that's about it.
quote:
they cannot possibly keep the facts straight
Wrong again. the inveterate liar acutally begins to consciously believe their own lies in many cases. Their 'facts' are often no different to them from someone telling the truth. People often repeat a question posed to them because they believe it to be nonsensical... or they are angered by it.
The way to seprate the genetically modifed wheat from the aluminum chaff, so to speak, is through the use of control questions and behavioral anlysis. Far too lengthy a subject for KTRK's one page article (what is it with these TV affiliates and there laughable web presence?) or even this thread.
Briefly, 90% of the population uses a different part of the brain when they are recalling something that actually occured, as opposed to when they are being 'imaginative'.
This translates to an observable difference in eye-movements.
Body language is often useful, as well. Women and men differ in their reactions considerably, but the under-lying concept is the same; defensive posture.
Women will often cross their legs during a fabrication, men will often cross their arms. Women will enter your personal space (lean closer, give you a disarming smile, etc.) while men will puff up and perhaps take a step back. Make of that what you will.
These are just a couple of examples that have to be taken in the context of other observations, and I've seen people hold their own while they were fabricating without waving a single red flag.
Blinks can be another good indicator. Observe how politicians on the idiot box are somehow prone to constant blinking while everyone else somehow manages to appear 'normal' in this regard...
Happy hunting!
