A Ryder truck containing 4800 pounds of ANFO did this much damage when it was parked on street in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building and detonated on 04/19/1995.

Then I realized that it might be interesting to compare this blast with one that occurred in the Vietnam era at my alma mater. On 08/24/1970 a Ford Econoline van was loaded with 1750 pounds of ANFO and parked in the loading dock of Sterling Hall at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. When the ANFO was detonated, one lab was gutted, a graduate student was killed, and windows were blown out of the building. This is the repaired building 30 years later. The damaged area can be identified by the lighter colored brick.

I wonder why there is such a discrepancy in the amount of damage that occurred from the two ANFO bombs, one parked tens of feet from a reinforced concrete structure and one parked right next to an old brick building.
