I wonder what chemical in the atmosphere turns grasshoppers pink?Dr Cosens, who has asked for specimens from the wildlife centre, said: "The colouring indicates that during its early stages the grasshopper has been affected by something in its local conditions. DNA mutates if there is something very solvent in the air and this could indicate that a chemical is floating in the atmosphere." http://www.jeffrense.com/general11/susp.htm

MY God gals, I've heard of "Pink squirrels", (the drink) but now pink grasshoppers?? No pink elephants though, don't drink any these days...to old and no time...You can bet yer "bippy" there's chemicals that caused it as that guy infered...he dosen't know the half of it! I hope my hair dosen't turn pink! I decided for a change and dyed my hair red the other day...was hoping for a "Julia Roberts...Gillian Anderson look"....got Sally Jesse Rafael instead, I think...now, just hope the chemicals outside don't turn it pink while I'm researchin out there! Oh well...Blessings, Joanne
