ABC News.com/ There was an operation in the 60's called Operation Northwoods that had several plots planned against our own citizens and innocent people to bring about outrage so War could be declared agaisnt Cuba. It was shocking to read of such plans as blowing up a U.S. Navy ship, to stir up the public and maipulate them toward the idea of war...other plans, sinking Cuban refugee boats, killing an astronaut in space and blaming Communists, Cuba blamed at the first astronaut attempt in space being thwarted by such plan, hi-jacking planes, and other violent Terrorist campaigns agaisnt the U.S. Now, 40 some years later, the truth is outted. So it does seem our govt. and/or military is capable of such things and could be inclined to do so now or in the future as well...comforting thought. Full article at http://www.rense.com

Hi Delphi,These kinds of things have been going on as long as there's been governments I think, (which doesn't make it right). I once read that the the sinking of the battleship Maine was blamed on Spain which helped to create the Spanish-American war, though there was speculation even then, that someone with U.S. interests may have sunk the ship themselves. History is full of deception, sabotage and havoc when it comes to war and power struggles. Like when the "Gulf of Tonkin incident" during Johnsons term was blamed on Chinese, when we allegedly found Chinese weapons onboard a Viet Namese ship which gave the U.S. and Johnson et al. an excuse to escalate the war in Viet Nam. Supposedly, those weapons were planted by someone for that very purpose. Johnson reportedly had a billion dollar contract with Brown & Root to drill oil in the Gulf of Tonkin which may have provided the impetus to quickly make a (corporate?) American military presence in Viet Nam ASAP. I just heard last night that there are vast untapped oil reserves in, (guess where).... Afghanistan. These are just American examples though. Things like this have been done over and over again with different players/countries throughout world history.

Unfortunately, You're right!! What a world! Will we ever overcome our "tribal warfare" mentality and become a more loving, tolerant, and peaceful society? Since it HAS been going on so long, You'd think we'd have learned something by now instead of constantly letting History repeat itself. I guess we still need more time to evolve and change into the kind of society we could and should be....that, or Divine intervention will occur and may help with that...we will see...or some generation will, hopefully.
