I reported the following on the CT reports thread.

At 8:30 PM on 3/4/02, the nortern Part of Stamford was rocked by at least 3 massive high altitude explosions. I just happened to be sitting in on a meeting at the firehouse where I take most of my sunset pictures and we heard an explosion that was so loud that it felt like part of the firehouse collapsed.

A police officer who had stopped by later, stated that they had received 27 reports of of the explosions. Strangly enough, the epicenter of one of the explosions was reported to be in my neighborhood. Luckily I was 4 miles north at the time. I was almost expecting to find a smoldering crater where my house was when I got home, but everything seems to be alright and my house is still standing.

Strangely enough, the local newspaper did not mention the event at all. However, the Greenwich newspaper picked up the story.

Loud boom puzzles Stamford residents, authorities
--------------------
Associated Press
March 5, 2002

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Was it an earthquake? A sonic boom? An explosion?

Local authorities were trying to solve the mystery of a loud noise and tremor reported Monday night by residents in northern Stamford and Greenwich.

"It was quick and it was loud," said Stamford resident Sandy MacDougall, who compared the noise to a jet's sonic boom. He said he called 911 and went to investigate outside, where he was joined by neighbors.

Greenwich police Lt. Thomas Keegan said local aviation officials told him there were no airplanes in the area.

"We're trying to rule out what it isn't and trying to figure out what it is," he said.

Stamford and Greenwich police began receiving calls about the noise after 8:30 p.m. Neither department found the source Monday night. There were no reports of major damage or injury.

Bob Bennett, a volunteer firefighter in Stamford, said chairs moved at the Long Ridge firehouse, and his wife told him the boom rattled the china at their nearby home.

North Stamford resident Liz Coville said she felt the floor of her home move.

"I thought it was something in the basement which had exploded," Coville said. "You felt the floor move under you and a big bang."

Greenwich Fire Lt. Walter Wolfert said the tremor rattled windows in the North Street firehouse rattled and shook the walls.

"It seemed to be on the north side of the building. It was like 'bro-o-om' and that was it," he told The Advocate of Stamford. "My first instinct was maybe it was an earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported no earthquakes in the region.

Resident Dani Falkoff took the noise in stride.

"I'm from New York, so I thought it was a subway," she said. http://mv.greenwichtimeonline.com/news/local/stat e/hc-05011444.apds.m0167.bc-ct--rumbmar05.story?coll=hc-headlines-local-wire

A short time later, the story below was released by the AP. At this time, neither the Stamford Advocate or the Greenwich Time even mentioned it.

Small quake hits Stamford area

By Associated Press, 3/5/2002 13:34
STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) The noise and shaking that people in the Stamford area felt rumbling through the area Monday night was a small earthquake. Initially, the U.S. Geological Survey reported no earthquakes in the region. But Tuesday, another look at data from the agency's observatory in New York City found that the city was shaken by a magnitude-1.1 quake at 8:33 p.m. Such as quake is considered very small, said Waverly Person a geophysicist with the agency in Golden, Colo. Person said the quake was centered about five miles west-northwest of Stamford.

Local authorities received many phone calls from residents in northern Stamford and Greenwich who felt the rumbling. Bob Bennett, a volunteer firefighter in Stamford, said chairs moved at the Long Ridge firehouse, and his wife told him the boom rattled the china at their nearby home. North Stamford resident Liz Coville said she felt the floor of her home move. ''I thought it was something in the basement which had exploded,'' Coville said. ''You felt the floor move under you and a big bang.'' Greenwich Fire Lt. Walter Wolfert said the tremor rattled windows in the North Street firehouse rattled and shook the walls. ''It seemed to be on the north side of the building. It was like 'broom' and that was it,'' he told The Advocate of Stamford. ''My first instinct was maybe it was an earthquake. http://www.boston.com/dailynews/064/region/Small_quake_hits_Stamford_area:.shtml

In 1999, there were similar explosions reported in downtown Stamford. The following information concerning the explosions appeared in the National UFO Reporting Center's database.

Occurred : 10/3/1999 15:30 (Entered as : 10/03/99 15:30)
Reported : 10/15/1999 20:27

Shape : Circle
The Advocate newspaper(Stamford)front page news:"UFOs in Stamford?"(Sun.Oct.10th,1999)A half dozen witnesses saw circular shaped object over Long Island Sound on Oct.3rd,between 3:30 to 4:00PM""boom rocked Stamford"Police were called no apparent cause.

The Stamford's Advocate newspaper (Sun.Oct.10th)edition reported in its front page about an unexplained boom that "rocked"the city of Stamford the previous weekend, that might have been connected to reported sightings of a "circular shaped" UFO over the coast of Wesport(CT) earlier that day". The boom "rattled" some windows, around certain neighborhoods in the city of Stamford. Also, residents of close by cities: Darien,Norwalk, and Danbury, reported "flashing lights in the sky before the boom". Frank Fedeli,a supervisor of Stamford Citizens Services Center, said:"it sounded like blasting, like the noise of an excavating machine"..."the windows rattle, like a boom, and it was gone". The Stamford police received many calls, but they, and firemen, did not find anything odd. City officials guessed "it might have been a small earthquake,or sonic boom from aircraft". However, airports and the National Earthquake Information did not detected anything unusual. http://www.msatech.com/nuforc/webreports/S10235.html

I am not satisfied with the story of an earthquake having been the source of an audible explosion or explosions and am really beginning to wonder if there were some kind of high altitude explosions that could of registered on the Richtor Scale.

From a website called Science net, I found the following information. http://www.sci-ctr.edu.sg/ScienceNet/cat_space/cat_sol16684.html

Do all meteors that make it to ground, create a sonic boom?

Answer :

A jet plane travalling at or above the speed of sound generates a pressure wave, or shock wave, in front of he plane. On the ground this wave is detected as a loud explosive sound, the familiar sonic boom. Meteoroids generate similar shock waves, but since they travel much faster than sound, they can precede the sound by several seconds or as much as a minute or two. Those who observe fireballs often report no sound at all while the fireball is visible. Seconds or minutes after the fireball has vanished, the pressure wave passes by the observer and several loud reports are heard.

I found this article at the USA TODAY web site.

Centers flooded with calls after meteor shower
The Associated Press

People throughout the Northeast flooded emergency centers with phone calls Monday evening after seeing bright lights in the sky and hearing loud noises.

Some authorities said the likely cause was a meteor shower, but a U.S. Naval Observatory spokesman said it was probably a different type of natural phenomenon known as a fireball or "bolide."

"It is similar to the shooting stars you see sporadically at night in its appearance, but as far as the physical nature of this object is concerned it's quite different from the periodic meteor showers we get," said the spokesman, Geoff Chester. "This is a random piece of rock that happened to have the misfortune of being in the same part of space occupied by the Earth at the same time. In this particular case, the Earth won."

Sightings were reported from Virginia to New York. In Buffalo, National Weather Service observers received reports of a bright meteor in the western and southern regions of the state.

"We got our first call at about 6:25," meteorologist Dave Sage said. "Then the calls just started coming in."

Some people reported explosions or thunder, and felt their homes shake. In Montoursville, Pa., there was a report of a "big red ball" in the sky and broken windows from a sonic boom, a state police dispatcher said.

James Mennig, 22, of Pottsville, Pa. said he saw something as large as a sport-utility vehicle fall from the sky at about 6:30 p.m.
"It looked like a plane that was totally engulfed in flames," Mennig said. He ran inside and told his mother what he saw, but she didn't believe him.

At McGuire Air Force Base in Wrightstown, N.J., Airman Sharon Carpenter was on break around 6 p.m. in the air traffic control tower when she looked up and saw an orange streak north of the base. In less than a second, the westbound streak was gone, seen by no other air traffic or radar controllers in the tower.

"I spent the rest of the night trying to prove to them that I wasn't going crazy," Carpenter said.

Alexander Wolszczan, an astronomy professor at Pennsylvania State University, said the thunder or shaking that people felt could have resulted from a sound wave produced by a meteor exploding in the Earth's atmosphere.

Normally, a meteor shower is a silent event, he said, but large meteors can create concussive sound waves or even hit the earth. Often, meteors are hundreds of feet in diameter before the rock burns up in the atmosphere, he said. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2001/07/23/shower.htm

I saw a fireball once in Maine as a kid, my only witness...my dog.

It was traveling almost horizontal to the horizon. Big bright and orange, there was a sonic boom kind of sound that went with it right before it disappeared behind a hill. To this day, I don't think anyone in my family believes me.

It wasn't until years later that I learned what a fireball was. It thought it was a plane on fire or something. On the small island I lived no doubt if there was anything left to hit the ground it would have hit landed in the ocean, all proof lost.

Did your explosions sound like sonic booms? I know when the shuttle lands here it shakes our windows and rattles dishes.

When they determine the epicenter of the explosion near your neighborhood do they figure any height or depth, or just lat and log degrees? I'm ignorant to how they can determine such a thing. With earthquakes of course they know they are underground but what about your explosions?

BTW, glad to know Trail Chasers are out there. I float between chemtrails being an environmental issue (they just don't know wht they are doing, hard to swallow this one) and military control (weather, people)conspiracy type issue.

FLKook,I was sitting in a room with over 20 firefighters and they all said it was an explosion like a sonic boom and even the police investigated the incident as residents reporting at least 3 explosions due to the different times that they had received calls. And according to the officer that I had spoken to, the reports seemed to be clustered in 3 different areas with my neighborhood being one of them.

I'm glad the Trail Chasers are out there too. My executive board read over all the data that they could find on the topic of chemtrails both pro and con and unanimously agreed to give me their full support. - The board was totally unbiased and I as well as my first Vice-President and 3rd Vice-President, who had already been working independently, remained neautral in the final decision and only provided them with whatever information and evidence that we had collected. - They were not at all satisfied with the official stance on the matter and that a number of "red flags" kept popping up but wouldn't go into any details about it.

When I lived in Fairfield Ct. a few years back, I used to wake up in the wee hrs of the morning hearing a metallic hum. It sounded like a spaceship was parked outside my bedroom window, but there was nothing there. I deduced that it must be coming from underground, because it was so loud, and nothing was there.
I'll bet 'they' are frantically burrowing out more underground tunnels lately, because so many of the previously built underground facilities have been exposed and are no longer safe havens for the precious 'shadow' goverment to hide their butts in. Explosions underground? First a report saying there was no earthquake activity in that area, and then "later" ,,oh yeah, well looky here,, there suddenly comes a 'report' that 'another look' says there was a small quake, 1.1 magnitude.
I have never been in an eathquake, but never have heard any described as 'explosions' underground.
I also believe Bush's comment "slipping" about the "shadow government" was no accident. Just preparing the masses. I am expecting some sudden "reasons" to be popping up in the near future, for us to have been informed about such a shadowy government. I heard that Bush's latin name in the "skull and bones" club he and daddy belong to means "Temporary".
You figure it out.

Here's a little more wierdness to add. Saturday night around 6:00 PM, I had reset an electric clock in the house that was running an hour behind due to a power failure. I went out for a while to see my friends rock band who were playing at a local restraunt about a block south of the firehouse. During that time it began raining. As I left the restraunt around 11:30
a fuse in a high tension line a few yards away exploded. When I got home, I noticed that the clock that I had set to the right time, was now running 2 hours fast. I checked it out to see if there were any problems with it and since then it has been running normally.

That is weird.

I've heard the 'double sonic boom' of the Shuttle when it has entered the atmosphere above Santa Monica, CA on it's approach to Edwards AFB. FLKook or someone in FL may have heard that when the Shuttle lands at the Cape?

Maybe you heard something like NASA's (alleged) Aurora space plane re-entering atmosphere above CT? Maybe they make a 'triple sonic boom'?

There's lots of things going on up there, as seen in STS-48, UFO's in earths orbit as videotaped by Shuttle astronauts. Also 'Spikes and ?' something else, unexplained space phenoms.

Yeah Stamford is kind of a wierd little city and it's got even more wierd in the last 2 years. Unfortunately, I seem to be one of the few people who notices it and have seen things that I couldn't even begin to explain or get people to believe. This time I as well as a number of people heard what sounded like sonic booms and someone says it was just a minor quake. We've had minor quakes here before, but never one that made a noise that sounded like a sonic boom.

I almost forgot about the Aurora project Defender. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was buzzing around here somewhere. Hell, one of the space shuttles even flew over Stamford once, but it was riding on the back of a jet on the way to an air show
somewhere. People are always seeing all kinds of things flying around at night, but I'm too busy keeping track of the jets and trails to pay too much attention to it right now.
