http://dailynews.yahoo.com/fc/World/Nuclear_Weapons Let me get this straight...we're going to develop new nuclear weapons so we can fight terrorism. At the same time, we are going after terrorists for doing the same thing. Is there a little something wrong with this picture? Just what we need...a little radiation to go with all the stuff that's already messing with the environment. I thought they had all these new, high-tech weapons that were better than nukes? What happened to that? I'm not an environmental whacko, and I agree that we need to be able to keep up with the radical elements out there, but Jeez! Nukes? Scanner

If you are going to be the biggest of rogue nations, you need more stuff. You also need to terrorize the world in the name of "peace" and "justice".

Yeah, does the release of the 7 Country Nuclear Hit List, really help things? I don't blame them for examining the contingency plans, but why tell the world? Doesn't that just make people trust us less, see us as aggressors, and move the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight?

New, high-tech weapons are already there and much more of exotic technology is flying around for decades. For WWIII's sake everybody's oil fields need protection and small nukes are already available. Their restricted IQ was made to make them believe that they only need the consent of Stupid White Men. A leak from the responsible faction has a purpose that Stupid White Men wake up and forbid that the curtain lifts on the next scene. Nevermind. IZAKOVIC http://www.deepsapce4.com

What the United States seems to be trying to re-establish the old status quo that it once supposedly had with the soviet union while the CIA and KGB were laughing at us as we hid under our desks. The old familiar "You blast us - we blast you" mentality that we believed existed. The old GMD scenario. (Guarenteed Mutual Destruction.) Unfortunately, countries like China, North Korea, Iraq, Iran, Libya and Syria are not like the old soviet union and don't really care how many weapons we point at them and don't play those type of games. It seems to me that the damage has been done and we've become the "Bad Guys" and are set for execution. China wants our land to grow food, North Korea has a score to settle, Iraq, Iran, the palestinians and Afganistans want us dead and I'm not exactly sure where Syria fits into the picture. China has a military force of over 1,000,000 men and are certain that even if we launch a retaliatory strike against them, they will still be able to fight back. They control the Panama canal now and don't have to necessarily attack us from the east or west. They can attack from the south. Doesn't anyone realize that the majority of the major industries abandoned ship and set up camp in other countries and that almost everything is imported now? And that our fresh water supplies are dwindling so that our crops will fail and we'll die of thirst? All we need is a mad cow disease epidemic and we'll be in real trouble. Not a real pretty scenario, but one that seems to be occurring in stages as we sleep, dumbed down by the endless barrage of comedy shows as well as a faulty education system.

Actually, the policy was called MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction. A more apropos acronym for the situation... ------------------ "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything" Summer of My Discontent by Gargantua Soul

Thanks for the correction bshrdr. I was pretty close. GMD is the policy that my environmental group has with the City of Stamford but MAD kind of sounds more like it.
