Preemptive impeachment Law professor stands ready to draft articles for any member of the House

By Kéllia Ramares Online Journal Contributing Editor

[Bush regimes says:] While the United States will constantly strive to enlist the support of the international community, we will not hesitate to act alone, if necessary, to exercise our right of self defense by acting preemptively against such terrorists, to prevent them from doing harm against our people and our country . . .

The National Security Strategy of the United States of America

January 4, 2002 "We sentenced Nazi leaders to death for waging a war of aggression," says International Law Professor Francis A. Boyle of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. By contrast, Prof. Boyle wants merely to impeach George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and John Ashcroft for their plans to invade Iraq and create a police state in America.

Boyle is offering his services as counsel, free of charge, to any member of the House of Representatives willing to sponsor articles of impeachment. He is experienced in this work, having undertaken it in 1991 for the late Rep. Henry B. Gonzalez (D-TX), in an effort to stop the first Persian Gulf War. It takes only one member to introduce articles of impeachment. Of course, it will take many more than that to vote for impeachment, which will culminate in a trial in the Senate. Boyle is confident that, once the articles are introduced, others, including Republicans, will co-sponsor them. But we have to convince our Representatives that impeachment is necessary for the country and politically safe for them. This non-violent, constitutional process may be our best way of stopping World War III and saving our civil rights.

Grounds for Impeachment

Article II Sec. 4 of the Constitution states that: "The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Boyle says that waging a war of aggression is a crime under the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment and Principles (http://www.deoxy.org/wc/wc-nurem.htm). "It's very clear," he adds, "if you read all the press reports, they are going to devastate Baghdad, a metropolitan area of 5 million people. The Nuremberg Charter clearly says the wanton devastation of a city is a Nuremberg war crime."

The United States is a party to the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment and Principles, and thus is constitutionally bound to obey them. "The Constitution, in Article 6, says that international treaties are the supreme law of the land here in the United States of America. So all we would be doing here, in this impeachment campaign," Boyle says, "is impeaching them for violating international treaties, as incorporated into the United States Constitution, as well as the Constitution itself."

Bush Cabal Repudiates Nuremberg Principles

We don't have to wait for the devastation of Baghdad to impeach the Bush cabal because they have already repudiated the Nuremberg Charter via the so-called Bush Doctrine of preventive war and pre-emptive attack. "This doctrine of pre-emptive warfare or pre-emptive attack was rejected soundly in the Nuremberg Judgment, " Boyle says. "The Nuremberg Judgment . . . rejected this Nazi doctrine of international law of alleged self-defense." The Bush Doctrine, embodied in the National Security Strategy document (http://www.whitehouse.gov/nsc/nss.html), published on the White House web site, is appalling, Boyle says. "It reads like a Nazi planning document prior to the Second World War." … Are the People Ready for Another Impeachment? … But no matter how blatant the violations of constitutional, statutory and international law are, impeachment is still a political process. Republicans control the Congress and many Democrats, fearful of being labeled "soft on terrorism" might be unwilling to challenge the Bush cabal. It would take tremendous public pressure to get a reluctant Congress to impeach. Still, Boyle thinks he can garner public support by adding an article of impeachment against John Ashcroft.

"We know for a fact that there are Republicans and Democrats and Independents and Greens, even very conservative Republicans, such as Dick Armey and [Bob] Barr, who are very worried about a police state." Boyle says that an article against Ashcroft would make clear "that we don't want a police state in the name of an oil empire."

It's Up to Us

Unfortunately for the impeachment campaign, Armey has retired and Barr, who spoke out against some of the most draconian proposals for what eventually became the USA PATRIOT Act, was defeated in the Republican primary. Boyle is still waiting for the one member of Congress willing to introduce articles of impeachment when the 108th Congress convenes on January 7.

Since Bush has indicated that he is not likely to go to war before the end of January or early February, Boyle thinks we have a month to stop the war by impeaching the chain of command: Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, along with police state enforcer Ashcroft. Time and the Internet are advantages Rep. Gonzalez did not have in 1991, when the Persian Gulf War was launched the day after he introduced his articles.

Boyle is asking the public to push for impeachment in two ways. First, contact your own member of Congress (http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW.html) to urge him or her to introduce articles of impeachment, and tell the member that he or she may contact Prof. Boyle (FBOYLE@LAW.UIUC.EDU) for assistance in drafting the articles. Second, demand impeachment by engaging in non-violent direct action, in exercise of your First Amendment rights to free speech, peaceable assembly and petition for redress of grievances. Boyle was pleased that 100,000 people marched around the White House last October 26 to protest the impending war on Iraq. But he says one million people need to peaceably take to the streets with signs, banners and voices shouting, "Impeach Bush!"

Impeachment Resolution Against President George W. Bush
by
Francis A. Boyle
Professor of Law
January 17, 2003
108nd Congress H.Res.XX
1st Session
Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high
crimes and misdemeanors.
_______________________________________________

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
January __, 2003
Mr./Ms. Y submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the
Committee on Judiciary.
________________________________________________

A RESOLUTION

Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors. Impeaching George Walker Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors. Resolved, That George Walker Bush, President of the United States is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the Senate: Articles of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of all of the people of the United States of America, against George Walker Bush, President of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

ARTICLE I In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has attempted to impose a police state and a military dictatorship upon the people and Republic of the United States of America by means of "a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations" against the Constitution since September 11, 2001. This subversive conduct includes but is not limited to trying to suspend the constitutional Writ of Habeas Corpus; ramming the totalitarian U.S.A. Patriot Act through Congress; the mass-round-up and incarceration of foreigners; kangaroo courts; depriving at least two United States citizens of their constitutional rights by means of military incarceration; interference with the constitutional right of defendants in criminal cases to lawyers; violating and subverting the Posse Comitatus Act; unlawful and unreasonable searches and seizures; violating the First Amendments rights of the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government for redress of grievances; packing the federal judiciary with hand-picked judges belonging to the totalitarian Federalist Society and undermining the judicial independence of the Constitution's Article III federal court system; violating the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions and the U.S. War Crimes Act; violating the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination; reinstitution of the infamous "Cointelpro" Program; violating the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, the Convention against Torture, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; instituting the totalitarian Total Information Awareness Program; and establishing a totalitarian Northern Military Command for the United States of America itself. In all of this George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore George Walker Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.

ARTICLE II In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. U.S. soldiers in the Middle East are overwhelmingly poor White, Black, and Latino and their military service is based on the coercion of a system that has denied viable economic opportunities to these classes of citizens. Under the Constitution, all classes of citizens are guaranteed equal protection of the laws, and calling on the poor and minorities to fight a war for oil to preserve the lifestyles of the wealthy power elite of this country is a denial of the rights of these soldiers.

ARTICLE III In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has violated the U.S. Constitution, federal law, and the United Nations Charter by bribing, intimidating and threatening others, including the members of the United Nations Security Council, to support belligerent acts against Iraq.

ARTICLE IV In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has prepared, planned, and conspired to engage in a massive war and catastrophic aggression against Iraq by employing methods of mass destruction that will result in the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians, many of whom will be children. This planning includes the threatened use of nuclear weapons, and the use of such indiscriminate weapons and massive killings by aerial bombardment, or otherwise, of civilians, violates the Hague Regulations on land warfare, the rules of customary international law set forth in the Hague Rules of Air Warfare, the Four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and Protocol I thereto, the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles, the Genocide Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and U.S. Army Field Manual 27-10 (1956).

ARTICLE V In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has committed the United States to acts of war without congressional consent and contrary to the United Nations Charter and international law. From September, 2001 through January, 2003, the President embarked on a course of action that systematically eliminated every option for peaceful resolution of the Persian Gulf crisis. Once the President approached Congress for consent to war, tens of thousands of American soldiers' lives were in jeopardy - rendering any substantive debate by Congress meaningless. The President has not received a Declaration of War by Congress, and in contravention of the written word, the spirit, and the intent of the U.S. Constitution has declared that he will go to war regardless of the views of the American people. In failing to seek and obtain a Declaration of War, George Walker Bush has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.

Wherefore George Walker Bush, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.

ARTICLE VI In the conduct of the office of President of the United States, George Walker Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has planned, prepared, and conspired to commit crimes against the peace by leading the United States into aggressive war against Iraq in violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, the Nuremberg Charter, Judgment, and Principles, the Kellogg-Brand Pact, U.S. Army Field Manual 27-10 (1956), numerous other international treaties and agreements, and the Constitution of the United States.

The commentary below says it all. It is past time to IMPEACH BUSH, one of the most treasonous people to ever live in this once great country.

And, while we are at, do the same to Ashcroft, a man who claims to be a Christian but hasn't any concept of Christianity and man's natural rights through his creator.

Look, People, we either let this tyrant continue or we stop him. This is our country - it does not 'belong" to Bush or the entirety of the federal government. They belong to us - and it is time they are made to realize this.

So, please, the many of you who have extensive lists, write your alleged "representation" in Washington and elsewhere. Write your friends and colleagues. I have sent this to my so-called "representation" in the House and the Senate. I also have sent it to at least 50 others.

No government plan has ever worked except those employed as tools to remove or deprive us of our rights through fraud and deception. The USA anti-Patriot Act and Homeland Security are no different, nor are all the flimsy bold-faced lies being told by spokespeople of the government.

Best regards,

Ed Lewis

I hope that all who read this will take a step back and not go into the pitiful *party mentality*. If you want to see how you think - exchange the names - Clinton and Bush in this letter and that will tell you if you are simply playing party lines or not. People have to get past this *party mentality* and look at the damage being done to America by these politicians. If you are being killed does it make a difference to you if the killer is a Republican or a Democrat? If the killer belonged to your political party of choice would you defend that killers right to kill you? All I ask is that people think before going *party* blind.

Ladies & gentlemen:

When a man places his left hand on the Bible, and raises his right hand to swear to God almighty that he will uphold and defend the Constitution of the Unites States, he had better do it.

I think they demand he use both hands while swearing that oath so one hand can't be hidden behind his back with the fingers crossed.

But George W. Bush figuratively did just that when he was sworn in as President of the United States.

I received an enormous number of e-mails from readers asking what can be done about this president's complete disregard for constitutional protections, particularly those most fundamental rights given a United States citizen accused of a crime. This, in response to my article, "The Padilla Test Run", wherein I addressed the arrest and imprisonment of Jose Padilla aka, "Abdullah al Muhajir", who is being held in a military brig and whose basic rights as a United States citizen have been denied by a unilateral and dictatorial action through Mr. Bush's executive order to treat Padilla as an "enemy combatant", rather than a citizen who is alleged to have conspired to commit treason.

I thought about this for two days, and I think I have the answer: Demand the impeachment of President George W. Bush.

Nothing would get through to this president's walnut-sized brain faster than a massive call for his impeachment through every local representative's and senator's office. This president is so cocky and full of himself from all those popularity polls, that a massive and sudden call for his impeachment over the Padilla matter would bring him up short, and perhaps even back to reality.

Former President Clinton was arguably the most despicable character ever to grace the White House, but this president eclipses even that man. While Clinton couldn't keep his zipper shut and lied about it, George W. Bush has pushed the envelope of outrage to the point of bursting. If a president denies the most basic, fundamental civil rights to just one American citizen, he has denied those same rights to all 300 million of us. All we have to remember is that he just hasn't had time to get around to everybody else yet -- and that means you and me.

So if you value your freedom and your basic civil rights as a citizen, write your local senators and congressmen, and demand they immediately call for the impeachment of George W. Bush on the basis that he has blatantly violated his sacred oath, and in so doing, he has committed high treason against the citizens of the United States of America in the Padilla matter.

If you want to see an attitude adjustment, write that letter and send a copy to your local newspaper.

Investigate and Impeach Bush
for Failing to Act on 911 Warnings
- And then Lying About It

Bush Knew 3

To: George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Congress, and the Media

Since 911, Americans have learned about numerous warnings that were received by the Bush Administration before 911.

These numerous warnings were ignored, with fatal consequences for nearly 3,000 people.

If these warnings had not been ignored, the Bush Administration could have protected America by taking decisive action in the days leading up to 911, and on 911 itself.

Moreover, the Bush Administration concealed these crucial facts from Congress and the American people, and then lied about them when they were revealed, in a deliberate effort to cover up its failure to protect America.

We, the American people, call upon the Bush-Cheney administration to take responsibility for failing to protect America, and to resign. If George W. Bush and Dick Cheney refuse to resign, we demand their impeachment by Congress.

The following list contains the most serious warnings that were ignored by the Bush administration.

Individually, each of these failures justifies punishment of those directly responsible.

Collectively, these failures justify the resignation - or impeachment - of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, who are ultimately responsible for the failure of their Administration to protect the American people.

The Bush administration ignored the issue of terrorism from the moment it assumed office:

*
They ignored the final report of the Hart-Rudman commission, the Road Map for National Security: Imperative for Change, that was issued on January 31, 2001
*
They blocked Senate hearings on the Hart-Rudman commission's report, scheduled for the week of May 7, 2001, by announcing a brand new commission led by Vice President Dick Cheney - which never met before 911
*
They ignored repeated requests from the Hart-Rudman commission from January 2001 to September 6, 2001, when National Security adviser Condoleezza Rice said she would "pass on" their concerns
*
They ignored repeated requests from Senator Dianne Feinstein to restructure US counter-terrorism and homeland defense programs, starting in July 2001 and continuing through September 10, 2001, when Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff told Feinstein to wait 6 months
*
They ignored the report of the Gore Commission on Aviation Safety and Security

The Bush administration changed Bill Clinton's policy towards Afghanistant to appease Al Qaeda, the Taliban, and their Saudi backers to promote the interests of oil companies, putting profits for campaign contributors ahead of fighting terrorism:

*
They prevented FBI terrorism experts from investigating Saudi Arabian ties to Al Qaeda before 911, leading to the resignation of FBI Deputy Director John O'Neill only two weeks before 911
*
They ordered the Naval Strike Force - which President Clinton deployed near Afghanistan on 24-hour alert in order to strike Osama Bin Laden - to "stand down" before 911
*
They gave $43 million to the Taliban in April 2001

When appeasement failed, the Bush administration then prepared for war against Afghanistan:

*
They issued an ultimatum to the Taliban in July 2001, telling them to turn over Osama Bin Laden and permit Unocal to build a pipeline across Afghanistan in return for a "carpet of gold" - or face a "carpet of bombs"
*
They prepared a National Security Presidential Directive on September 9, 2001, a detailed "game plan to remove al-Qaida from the face of the Earth"

The Bush administration ignored numerous warnings from US and foreign agencies:

*
They ignored warnings as early as June from the National Security Agency's Echelon electronic spy network that Middle Eastern terrorists were planning to hijack commercial aircraft to use as weapons to attack important symbols of American and Israeli culture
*
They ignored warnings from an FBI agent in Phoenix on July 10, 2001 about suspicious Arab pilots with ties to Al Qaeda who were training in a local flight school, urging a nationwide investigation of Arab students in flight schools
*
Bush personally ignored warnings from the CIA on August 6, 2001 that Al Qaeda planned to hijack US planes
*
They ignored warnings from Jordanian intelligence in the summer that a major attack was planned inside the US using airplanes
*
They ignored warnings from Israeli intelligence in August that large-scale terrorist attacks on highly visible targets on the American mainland were imminent, organized by a cell of as many of 200 terrorists said to be preparing a big operation
*
They ignored warnings from Russian intelligence in August that at least 25 terrorist were trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan to attack US targets, with future plans to attack financial, nuclear, and space facilities
*
They ignored warnings from Moroccan intelligence in August that Bin Laden was "very disappointed" by the failure of the 1993 WTC bombing, and planned "large-scale operations in New York in the summer or autumn of 2001"
*
They rejected a search warrant requests by FBI agents in Minneapolis for Moussaoui's computer disk
*
They ignored warnings from Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak on August 31 of an impending attack on the US
*
They ignored phone calls from Abu Zubaida, bin Laden's chief of operations, to the United States that were intercepted by the National Security Agency shortly before 911
*
They ignored an extroardinary number of "puts" on the stocks which were hardest hit by the 911 attacks, including American and United airlines, in the days leading up to 911

The Bush administration failed to take meaningful precautions against a terrorist attack when so many warnings were being issued:

*
Bush went on vacation for the month of August, after only six months on the job
*
They allowed counterterrorism agencies to "stand down" from the highest level of alert before August 6, 2001, despite repeated warnings from CIA director George Tenet
*
The FAA knew about concerns that Moussaiou would hijack a 747 in August 2001, but failed to warn the airlines
*
They failed to assign more sky marshalls or to make cockpit doors more secure
*
They changed FAA policy to prohibit pilots from carrying guns
*
They failed to increase the readiness levels of our Air Defense

On 911, Bush failed to take decisive action:

*
George W. Bush said on two occasions that he saw the first plane hit the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. on 911, and was told by Andrew Card about the second plane hitting the World Trade Center at 9:05 a.m. - yet Bush did nothing but listen to a children's story until 9:30 a.m. instead of ordering fighter jets to intercept all hijacked planes immediately
*
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney ordered the Pentagon to shoot down Flight 93 over Pennsylvania at 9:55 a.m., but could have shot down the other three flights if they had not waited so long to act

Following 911, Bush used the tragedy to promote the agenda of his wealthy and powerful supporters:

*
Bush pushed through the USA Patriot Act, which rewarded right-wing opponents of freedom and civil liberties
*
Bush demanded additional tax cuts for the wealthy using the pretense of "stimulating" the economy
*
Bush massively increased defense spending, to the direct personal benefit of his father and his cronies in the Carlyle Group

To cover up his failures, the Bush administration resorted to stonewalling, fingerpointing, and lies about 911:

They have continually lied about the extent of the warnings about the 911 attack

*
Shortly after 911, Ari Fleischer declared flatly that there were "no warnings"
*
When it was revealed in May 2002 that the CIA briefed Bush personally on August 6, 2001, they claimed that the briefing did not address terrorist attacks in the US; then they claimed it was a "low-level" briefing based on only one warning

Condoleezza Rice said, "I don't think anyone could have predicted that these people... would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile." (5/16/02)

*
The Pentagon commissioned a study in 1993 called "Terrorism 2000", which predicted multiple simultaneous attacks, the use of airplanes as weapons, targeting of large landmarks and financial centers, etc.
*
A Fedex employee tried to crash a DC-10 into FedEx HQ in Memphis in 1994, but was apprehended
*
An Islamic fundamentalist group hijacked an Air France flight and loaded it with 27 tons of fuel to destroy the Eiffel Tower, but special forces stormed the plane on the ground
*
Abdul Hakim Murad and Ramsey Yousef conceived of 'Project Bojinka' in 1995, a plan to blow up 11 US airline flights over the Pacific in 1995, and to crash airplanes into the Pentagon and the CIA, which definitely caught the attention of counter-terrorism experts in the US
*
The Library of Congress Report on The Sociology And Psychology Of Terrorism warned in 1999 about suicide hijackers
*
The Pentagon conducted a drill in December 2000 to respond to an airline crashing into the Pentagon
*
U.S. and Italian officials were warned in July 2001 that Islamic terrorists might attempt to kill President Bush and other leaders by crashing an airliner into the Genoa summit of industrialized nations

They did everything possible to block an independent commission investigation

*
Bush and Cheney personally called Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle urging him not to conduct an investigation
*
Bush and Cheney made numerous speeches and TV appearances
*
When momentum for an independent commission became too strong from the media, the public, and Senators of both parties, they suddenly announced warnings of another attack - although they did not raise the official alert level above yellow, leading to widespread speculation of a deliberately false alarm to stop the momentum

George W. Bush himself has repeatedly JOKED about the 911 attack

Move underway to impeach Bush
Conyers, anti-war activists charge 'high crimes and misdemeanors'

Formal efforts are now underway to impeach President Bush over allegations that a pre-emptive strike against Iraq constitutes "high crimes and misdemeanors," Roll Call, the newspaper of Capitol Hill, reported today.

A meeting Tuesday reportedly assembled more than two dozen prominent liberal attorneys and legal scholars who mulled over articles of impeachment drafted against President Bush by activists. The two-hour session was said to feature former attorney general-turned-activist Ramsey Clark and took place in the downtown office of a prominent Washington tort lawyer.

Participants said Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who hosted the meeting, was the only member of Congress to attend.

"We had a pretty frank discussion about putting in a bill of impeachment against President Bush," said Francis Boyle, an Illinois law professor who has been working on the impeachment language with Clark.

In November of 2002, WND reported that former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark had been retained by Iraq to represent that regime's legal interests.

Clark first called for impeachment publicly at anti-war demonstrations in Washington, D.C., and later in San Francisco. He subsequently created the Vote To Impeach website,http://www.votetoimpeach.org/ which warns, "Each of us must take a stand on impeachment now, or bear the burden of having failed to speak in this hour of maximum peril."

Ramsey Clark donning judicial robe to defend Rwadan Pastor Elizaphan Ntakirutimana against charges of genocide.

On Jan. 18, WND was the only news organization to report that the groundwork was being laid to impeach the president. At that time, WND reported on statements made by Clark, former U.N. weapons inspector Scott Ritter and lawyer-activists Mara Verheyden-Hilliard and Carl Messineo.

Verheyden-Hilliard, who was the M.C. at the Washington, D.C., anti-war protest last year, and Messineo were the first to post legal arguments on the Internet, accusing Bush of high crimes and misdemeanors.

That was followed by the release of a book by the two lawyers, "Empire at home: George W. Bush and John Ashcroft v. the Bill of Rights," accusing the administration of a deliberate and systematic erosion of civil rights.

At that time, the author told WND that many were raising questions about impeachment of Bush and said, "many more are seriously evaluating it and discussing what mechanisms are appropriate to it."

"We need to fight by being in the streets," Verheyden-Hilliard said, "by educating our neighbors, and taking appropriate legal action. We can't sit back and wait for government to do the right thing."

In addition, in a previous interview with WorldNetDaily, Scott Ritter, former U.N. weapons inspector, said the following:

"I would be in favor of the impeachment of President Bush for high crimes and misdemeanors. Murder is a high crime and misdemeanor, and I can't think of any better definition than murder when he talks about American service members and putting them in a war which is not only illegal but is based on a foundation of lies."

He added, "What I would find to be grounds of impeachment is the president lying to the American people. I believe the president has lied to the American people. I believe the vice president has lied to the American people. And if we go to war where American service members are killed, I think the president should be held accountable for this judicially."

The day after the WND report, details of a former arrest for allegedly soliciting an underage girl, although under seal, were leaked to the press. Ritter supporters called it a political hit, while detractors called it proof of his duplicitous and untrustworthy character.

Anti-war activists recently have been emboldened by what some held were an embarrassing series of revelations that some documents and claims referred to by politicians as supporting the war were not what they first were made out to be. These included the following:

* Almost half of the most recent Blair "intelligence report" was revealed to have significant portions plagiarized from a university student's work.

* Recent revelations of the text of the 1995 initial de-briefing of defector Hussein Kamal revealed he claimed that all weapons of mass destruction had been destroyed, and no nuclear program was underway. In addition he claimed "Saddam's Bombmaker," Dr. Khidir Hamza, was a "professional liar" who was so "useless" he was allowed to defect.

* Iraqi workers displayed a controversial drone to the public. Labeled a threat and "a smoking gun" by Secretary of State Colin Powell, The Washington Post reported the drone was held together by duct tape and rubber bands and was powered by a "weed-wacker" motor.

Ramsey Clark, the key mover behind the impeachment drive, may have his own PR uphill battle due to his controversial past. He has been called "the war criminal's best friend" and a tool of left-wing cultists who defend Slobodan Milosevic, Saddam Hussein and Rwandan torturers as anti-imperialist heroes.

Ironically, according the same writer, "The social and cultural rights claimed by [Ramsey Clark's] Iraqi hosts include the right to hang opponents in public."

Manny Goldstein of New York City's underground paper The Shadow wondered if Clark might not himself be a "ruling-class spook."

In November, WorldNetDaily produced a special investigative report on the controversial ties of major anti-war leadership, including some of those involved in the current push for impeachment. Anti-war activists and a handful of liberal writers complained of the "hijacking of the anti-war movement" by dangerous political extremists. The WND report told of links to Islamic extremist groups and cult-like, radical Marxist/Stalinists, some of whom are pushing for an armed overthrow of the U.S. Some leaders and speakers were shown to be have a history of being supportive of enemy regimes of the U.S., as well as terrorists. Groups mentioned in the article included the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, the International Action Center and an organizational coalition group, A.N.S.W.E.R.

Fox News' Jim Pinkerton called the WND article a "terrific piece of investigative journalism," while Neil Gabler labeled it "McCarthyist." Verheyden-Hilliard labeled critical reporting "lies," charging that the media had engaged in "heavy red-baiting."

While A.N.S.W.E.R. was founded by the International Action Center, a group linked to the extremist Stalinist World Workers Party, A.N.S.W.E.R. defenders say that they were an organizational umbrella group only. The statement omitted the key fact that every protest event is controlled by A.N.S.W.E.R. because of its organizational leadership, and as such, each protest event conveys the didactic stances of its parent group as it seeks to "instruct" protestors from the rally pulpit. Critics charge the key reason A.N.S.W.E.R exists as an organizational group is so that it's key leadership can achieve a large audience for propagandist reasons that extend far beyond, and may have little to do with, the anti-war argument.

To this end, protesters have been told that the U.S. is the foremost terrorist threat to the world, that the U.S. must disarm completely and unilaterally, and that all present world problems are the fault of Israel and the U.S. alone. The suffering of the Iraqi people is blamed solely on the United States, just as the suffering of Palestinians is blamed solely on Israel. Stung by charges of anti-Semitism, the A.N.S.W.E.R. site now boldly proclaims that it is fighting anti-Semitism.

The mainstream media have failed to report the motives and beliefs of many in the anti-war movement, including Clark. The following are points that have gone largely unreported:

* Clark was introduced at protest events only as a former U.S. attorney general. No mention was made of his relationship to Iraq.

* While accusing the Bush administration and Israel of Nazi-like war crimes, Clark failed to mention his former client Karl Linnas, an ex-concentration camp guard responsible for the murder of some 12,000 Jews.

* The figurehead of the U.S. anti-war, anti-violence movement, Clark previously defended Rwanda genocide indictee Pastor Elizaphan Ntakirutimana, who was accused of telling Tutsis to hide in his church and then summoning Hutus to massacre them. The genocidal leader later led killing squads in the "hell on earth" that Rwanda quickly became.

* Clark accuses Bush of having hidden oil interests in Iraq. Ironically, The Shadow, revealed that Clark's father, while serving as attorney general under President Truman, was a lobbyist for Texas oil interests. Truman later told a biographer that "Tom Clark was my biggest mistake." But he insisted: "It isn't so much that he's a bad man. It's just that he's such a dumb son of a b----." It was later reported that Lyndon Johnson appointed Ramsey Clark not because he was impressed with him, but because Johnson knew that Ramsey's appointment would maneuver Tom into stepping down from the U.S. Supreme Court.

* Ex-professor Sami Al-Arian, currently indicted on terrorism charges, was a featured speaker at the A.N.W.E.R.-sponsored pro-Palestinian march in the capital, which falsely accused Israel of genocide. Al-Arian urged Americans to abandon Israel and told the crowd that when Israel asks the U.S. for financial aid, it should be given "the finger."

* Clark urged associate and A.N.S.W.E.R. speaker Lynn Stewart to provide legal defense for the "blind Sheik" Omar Abdel Kahman, later convicted as being the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombings and the planner of other bombings in the U.S. Wiretap documents show that the now-indicted Stewart aided and abetted in the passing of messages to an Egyptian terrorist organization. That information included an order to end a cease-fire and the message "to fight the Jews and kill them wherever they are." If convicted, Stewart faces 40 years in prison.

* WND reported on anti-war public figure C. Clark Kissinger, who writes for and is described as a key member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA. The stated goal of the RCP is the armed "destruction of the imperialist USA." Clark is the public-relations representative for the "non-violent" anti-war Not In Our Name campaign.

* While preaching "peace" at U.S. anti-war rallies, A.N.S.W.E.R leader Brian Becker has cheered North Korea's military buildup while the protest coalition demands that the U.S. disarm.

Of course I did.

I posted it anyway. I'm not BIASED like CERTAIN people.

I question some of the info...and even the Ritter allegations.

But.

Bush should be impeached...by any means necessary.

That should be America's #1 priority.

Otherwise..this country has had it.

Yep,
Like Liebermann or Kerry. What a choice! or BUSH!. Man, the more I talk about 2004, the more it stinks........

Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich (a few of the remaining Constitutionalists) are not NWO material, as Buchanan and Nader are not. I'd vote for one of them if they run, although getting Bush in again is about as frightening as you can get. Will they stage another attack, to bring in Marshall Law, and "Officially" obliterate the Constitution?

Yes, Gas, if we don't have a real statesman step up, and if we the people don't become involved in, educated about, and responsible for the self government of our democratic republic as framed by our Constitution, then yes... I fear that is exactly what will come to pass.

And if it does, God save us all.

Wait til '04 so my vote can be denied due to my misidentification as a criminal or lost in the electronic voting black hole?
Nah, I prefer to harass my Congress, Senators, House of Reps, and Capitol Hill now, vice sit around doing nothing and hope that there actually IS a vote in '04, and that mine actually gets counted.

But the last point Gas and I were getting at is that there could possibly be Martial Law declared due to a "state of emergency" at which time there would be no vote.

Nor would there be anyone to vote for...

Just a dictatorship.

If voting changed anything they'd make it illegal.

Of course I vote.

Even if I felt it were a purely sybolic action (and after the 2000 election, it's difficult for me not to feel so), hell yes I will vote, every election. There was a time, no so long ago, when women weren't allowed to vote. The right to Vote was a right that we had to earn, and to not exercise that right would be a great injustice to the women before me who made it possible.

No way am I giving up the action of voting, unless of course, they won't give me a pass to leave Camp Ashcroft that day.

But I don't wait 'til an election to let my Congress, Senate, HoR and the Hill know what's on my mind.

"... of the people, by the people, for the people..."
