Actually, most Americans support a war on Iraq. This is why Democrats are against it. They fear the popularity it would bring Bush when we prevail. In essence then, Democrats and leftists are hoping for America's failure in Iraq, precisely so that Bush looks bad. They don't care about people dying, just that their chance for power might be threatened.

And Mech....Can you tell me why you don't think Sadam would sell or give biological or nuclear weapons to a third party terrorist group who would use them on the US?

Perhaps... for the same reasons we wouldn't sell or give biological or nuclear weapons to a third party terrorist group to use on them? Well... we wouldn't... do that... would we?

Raeleven,We would do that, and we have. This country has a long tradition of arming the enemies of our enemies. This policy is mostly successful, but there have been failures that liberals always cite when criticizing America...such as accidentally arming Bin Laden in the Afghan rebellion against Russia. OR the big one, arming and providing intelligence to Sadam in Iraq's struggle against Iran. We support what ever country seems to be going down the road of a democratic government and is fighting governments that hate freedom and democracy. We arm and support Israel, for example. The enemy of our enemy is our friend....so the answer to your somewhat facetious question Raelven is yes, we would do that, we have done that, we are doing that...We support the enemies of our enemies because that policy has been successful, for the most part. So would Sadam...and so has Sadam, and so is Sadam, arming and supporting enemies to Democracy, freedom and the United States. Sadam arms and finances Hamas for example in it's terrorist attacks against Israel. Sadam has a history of this behavior. Sadam would easily give or sell a biological or nuclear weapon of mass destruction to a third party terrorist group, or one having even more loyalty to him such as those people he personally trains. He hates America with a passion, in fact, that hatred is probably the single most driving passion in his life. He has killed over 100,000 of his own people. He would have no qualms or compunction detonating a nuclear warhead in down town Manhattan or Long Beach harbor. He would prefer to use a terrorist group as the delivery system (as history shows that this is what he has done before) in order that blame for the attack would not immediately be traced back to him.
It is absolute naiveté to think that if we do not go to war to eliminate this monster, that he won't try to pull something like this off, that this subhuman incarnation of satan will simply leave us alone. The 9/11 attacks were unprovoked, remember. To realize that Sadam is feverishly attempting to obtain a nuclear weapon and the ability to manufacture many per year, but to assume he does not plan to use them, and to therefore do nothing to stop him is the height of foolishness.

Yes, how many of Iraq's current deadly weapons were given them by the U.S. to use against Iran?Maybe we shouldn't have given them weapons and military aid to begin with.... ...wait, what am I saying. It was a great idea.

Donald Rumsfeld did not sell weapons to Iraq for "elitist profits" mech. The US did help Iraq with it's war against Iran, however for strategic reasons. But, those false and lying comments aside, let's answer the question Mech. The question is not what happened in the past. The question is what to do about the situation now. Raelven gave the most intelligent and responsive answer to my question. What about you Mech? Is your idea of an intellectually honest discussion to respond by changing the subject with a non-answer, with disingenous and false comments? Apparently so.
