US army admits Iraq suicides

US forces in Iraq have suffered cases of probable suicide, a senior military official said today, amid slumping morale among troops faced with daily and deadly attacks.
The senior officer, who asked not to be named, said that among 53 US military non-combat deaths since May 1, when the war was declared effectively over, were "probable" suicides as well as a large number of road accidents. He did not say how many soldiers were suspected of committing suicide. There have been a number of "non-hostile gunshot incidents" among US troops in that time, with suspected suicides and accidental discharges of weapons, for example during cleaning, included under the category. US forces are facing an average of around a dozen attacks a day, hitting morale of tired troops, some of whom have already been in Iraq for months, while others have recently had their tours of duty indefinitely extended. Deaths in combat against guerrilla forces resisting the US-led occupation in Iraq since major fighting was declared over on May 1 reached 39 today, and 153 the number killed in action during the entire Iraq campaign.

Bush could EASILY say to his handlers ..NO..not one more dead soldier in Iraq...I won't have my fellow Americans die for your plans for a global government.He could take the fall.Of COURSE he won't do that..there is money to be made..and Bush is a good trader...or should I say TRAITOR.

Bush could EASILY say to his handlers ..NO..not one more dead soldier in Iraq and they say...ok mr.bush...we will call every note the U.S has abroad...put heavy tariff on your products...force you to bankrupt the U.S...declare all currency,t-bills and bonds null and void put MILLIONS out of work in turn hard currency would have to be changed economic chaos would insue for 10 to fifteen years... what would YOU do ? think big

Sorry to hijack the thread Mech, but I haven't seen Seeker post on the Chemtrails forum. I understand you're from OK, not sure how far from the testing going on, but are you seeing anything involved with it and what's your take on it?

haven't notice anything...been watching the radar for anomolies...nothing new or odd reports from friends there...it's raining right now...  btw, I mis-placed my keys a few months back to the chemtrail forum area... (ie: I'm not a chemtrail activist)

In his over 3600 posts here on this board, Mech has yet to answer an honest question, address a logical point or present a rational theory in his own thoughts. I saw people break during the Nam from exactly that dilemma: How do you deal with knowing those last 26 people you killed were unarmed women children and old men? suicide happens.

Morale in Iraq and the troops in the ME as being LOW is an exaggerated LIE, and it's making the deployed military folks a bit pissed off when they read in TIME or whatever paper/magazine of choice that it's some kind of miserable quagmire and everyone's depressed.Morale is good...operations are going well.

That not what i've been hearing.I suppose the only ones on the front lines doing the fighting really know how it is. Kids are dying everyday...anyway you slice it its going to effect morale. I think Bush and Cheney should get an assault rifle and do the fighting themselves. Mabye then they'd think twice before starting a war.

Let me ask you this, Mech...When and where have you gone "on the front lines" to confirm this view? I want to know how many days you've spent on the ground in theater...come on...convince me. Because seriously...your newspaper clippings just aren't doing it.

And, just to clarify...in the past 100 days, about 50-60 have died, many of those due to accidents and UXOs. Stop painting the picture that one soldier a day is dying...you're doing those guys a huge disservice.

I haven't..I wasn't a soldier..I was a sailor.But if I was...I'd do my job I signed my contract for. But neither have you. How does posting articles (THE TRUTH, FACTS) do soldiers a dis-service? What do you want people do do..SHUT UP? That's not very patriotic and downright UNAMERICAN if you ask me. This isn't Russia...Support and defend the CONSTITUTION...you know...the 1st, second and third amendment etc. You know about the CONSTITUTION..right Pacer?

Neither have I?How presumptuous you are. I've been to Tallil Air Base south of Nasiriyah many times, and been to Basra and Kirkuk plenty of times too. I've flown tactical spiral-down approaches sitting on body armor...so why don't you rethink your last post.

Yeah from a plane.Big deal..I was in hostile waters constantly and could have been subjected to USS COLE/STark type attacks constantly. So put RAMBO back in your pants.
