It was all over the front page of our local paper. The NATO Summit will convene at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado! Oct. 8. "Ministers of 19 NATO countries and the seven nations invited to join the alliance are trying to change their military forces to fight terorism and brushfire wars such as the ones America fought in Somalia and Panama." GazetteOur local peace organization e-mailed its members today to announce a street corner demonstration! Our peace organization is small, rag tag, and pathetic. The police department made national headlines when the Denver peace people came down for a protest in a park and a lining one of the main streets in our city. They over did the tear gas, literally shooting it when there was no threat, when people with dogs and children were going to their cars. This was in February. In March, with just our little group of about 60, with retired generals speaking, the cops were crawling under every tree in the park and took pictures of every face with telephoto lenses and even our license plates! I'm seriously thinking of not standing around for this. What good would it do, except put me on a list and when I go to board an airplane, get told I'm against the government and not allowed to fly? Yes, I'm protesting on Oct. 25 in Denver, among several hundred, to loudly state, "Bring the troops Home" "End Occupation" "Make Halliburton Pay!" well, you know. I searched the internet for an announcement of this meeting only a week or so away and it is conspicuously missing! Did any of you see a news blurb on it? I don't care if Rumsfeld is in a limo and sees a few college kids and middle aged women on a street corner, it's going to do no good! Our local paper is so Republican and red they'll never cover the protestors, but I'm sure the rest of the press will be there! Why do you think it's so hush hush? And do you think I should bother to stand on the curb as I did with my signs against occupation? Thoughts?

Go for it, what the hell. If you feel strongly enough about it well you also have the right to do so as well.

Thanks, Professor!I don't know what good it'll do! I do believe that meeting and establishing good relations with other countries is a wise and inclusive movement toward mending relations. But in this scenario I suspect the mindset of militarization, rather than the proper attitude of intelligence and guarding of infrastructure and borders. Terrorism cannot be fought with military might. Period. Of course I oppose any agreements involving escalating the military might of any country in terms of terrorism. Ridiculous. And how does holding a sign in a small group affect change? Thanks for the input ~~ still thinking. Peace, BC

Thats a good point, you won't fight terrorism with a sign but you can with a gun and better yet, decent foreign policy.

WHO decides who the "terrorists" are and WHO sends other to DIE in the name of their "BELIEFS"?..That is the REAL question.Certainly not the Bushes, the globalists and their Ilk. Could it be that THEY created the "terrorism" in the first place? Just a thought.

Don't be such a maroon Mech, those two groups were around before Bush well before. Do you think Bush created every terrorists faction in the world since the inception of time? I guess Professer is OK with BUSH sending kids to die for HIS "beliefs". yeah thats it, putting words in one's mouth again maybe? Do you ever have anything of substance or intelligence to say?

PROF:"Do you ever have anything of substance or intelligence to say?"Well gee...most of what I post you disagree with 100% so what kind of a rhetorical question is that? The CIA created Al Quaida and the Mujahaddeen. The US govt armed Saddam Hussein.
Whos to say that the CIA and Mossad didnt create Hezbollah or arm the militant factions of the PLO? It all boils down to WHO you trust. The globalists..or the citizens of the planet who live under their yolk.
