Rush Limbaugh Admits Addiction to Painkillers By Steve Gorman LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Conservative" radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh told his listeners on Friday he is addicted to prescription painkillers and that he would immediately check himself into a drug treatment program. Limbaugh also acknowledged that "authorities are conducting an investigation" but gave no further details. Telling listeners he has "always tried to be honest with you and open about my life," Limbaugh said he began taking prescription painkillers years ago when they were prescribed to him for pain he was suffering following spinal surgery. "Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful and I continued to have severe pain in my lower back and also in my neck due to herniated discs," Limbaugh said. "I am still experiencing that pain. Rather than opt for additional surgery for these conditions, I chose to treat the pain with prescribed medication. This medication turned out to be highly addictive." Limbaugh, 52, said he would check himself into a drug treatment center for the next 30 days immediately following his broadcast "to once and for all break the hold this highly addictive medication has on me." A source close to his show said live broadcasts of the program would continue with guest hosts in Limbaugh's absence. The disclosure follows recent media reports, first surfacing in the supermarket tabloid the National Enquirer, that Limbaugh was under investigation by the state attorney's office in Palm Beach County, Florida. The Enquirer story quoted Limbaugh's housekeeper as saying her boss was addicted to prescription drugs, which he sometimes bought in secret handoffs in parking lots. Limbaugh said, "authorities are conducting an investigation" but he said he was advised to limit his public comments about the probe until it is complete. He added, "So I will only say that the stories you have read and heard contain inaccuracies and distortions, which I will clear up when I am free to speak about them." The revelation was the latest controversy to engulf the nationally syndicated radio personality. Earlier this month, he resigned as a football commentator on ESPN's "NFL Sunday Countdown" amid a public uproar over his on-air comments suggesting Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated by the media because he is black. Limbaugh made headlines in the fall of 2001 when he revealed on air that he had gone virtually deaf as the result of a rare auto-immune ear disease, but cochlear implant surgery succeeded in restoring much of his hearing.

So whats your point on this? You enjoy jacking somebody when there down as if you have no faults? I can name one right off the bat, you drive a Ford. Ok I won't go there. It must be pretty reaching when the only thing you have a guy is a pain medication addiction. Take a guess at how many others have addictions, hell you have an addiction to turn a forum into a cut and paste tyrade like it's going out of style.

LOL!!!I knew this would happen... All of you NEO-CONS are the biggest HYPOCRITES ever to walk the face of the earth. If someone like Greg Palast or Alex Jones admitted he was an addict..you would be all over it like flies on dung. I see it as justice. Seeing how Rush Limbaugh constantly bashes libertarians and is lockstep with everything Bush does. I'm glad the SOB is finally getting his. What goes around...comes around.

I'm glad the SOB is finally getting his. That sure is mean spirited. The libertarians mean well but there a bunch of kooks, and saying so automatically mean he sides with Bush? I listen to Rush once in a while and have heard him critisize both the right and laft. Maybe you should listen first instead of jumping on the liberal bandwagon and speaking on someone whom you never have listened to.

I HAVE listened to him.He only sees corruption coming from the liberals and democrats..yet he NEVER acknowlages corruption on the right. Thats pure Hypocricy. Thats why Alex Jones simply leaves Limbaugh in the dust when it comes to exposing the crooks.
Jones exposes wrongdoings of both the right and the left.

simple truth:Had Rush or Ahnuld been Democrats... they would have been hounded by the media until destroyed by allegations of impropriety. eg: Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, Gary Condit. Republicans can always sucessfully use the 'Texas two step' perfected by Bush. 1. Lie and deny. 2. Admit to nothing but evade and apologize. eg: Clinton's supposed pot smoking got front page continuous coverage while Bush's drunken driving and coke abuse got ignored. eg: Clinton's consensual oral sex with a young Republican (Monica) who begged him for it; Became impeachment. Ahnold's serial molesting gets accepted by the same hypocrites who persecuted Clinton. I disagree with Mech in part. both sides are corrupt. both sides have sold out. But the right wing owns and controls the media: amerika's propaganda message is to hate Democrats and forgive Republicans. It's obvious to me which side has sold out completely to the NWO. I do agree that Democrats (most of them) have sold out. Individually/ not institutionally like the right wing has.

Looks like it’s Limbaugh’s (at least) 3rd go around at detox. http://italy.indymedia.org//news/2003/10/399302.php I agree - Limbaugh’s a hypocrite. Read his own words in the article. What goes around is definitely coming back around his way. Shatoga quote: both sides are corrupt. both sides have sold out. You got that right! So…where do we turn?

Lesser of two evils! since 1994, a big broom has swept through the left wing. The truely corrupt have gone under or been crucified. those few who remain are either so corrupt they have protection or are spotless.
I choose to support General clark. Out of respect for our Constitution and out of hope that a good man can overcome an institutional corruption. Clark never sold out, despite being involved in Clinton and Bush's evil deeds. He always put principle above personal advancement and profit. Another Eisenhower? I believe it is so! America first! Politics last!

Something you should know about Wesley Clark and the WACO massacre. http://www.counterpunch.org/waco.html Appartently he is no friend of Posse Commitatus so your "constitutional" argument seems invalid.
" Ultimately tanks from Fort Hood were used in the final catastrophic assault on the Branch Davidian compound on April 19. Certainly the Waco onslaught bears characteristics typical of Gen. Wesley Clark: the eagerness to take out the leader (viz., the Clark-ordered bombing of Milosevich's private residence); the utter disregard for the lives of innocent men, women and children; the arrogant miscalculations about the effects of force; disregard for law, whether of the Posse Comitatus Act governing military actions within the United States or, abroad, the purview of the Nuremberg laws on war crimes and attacks on civilians."

"let him who is without sin cast the first stone."spoken by a guy who threw a fit in the temple, made a whip, (with which he threatened merchants who had permission of the priesthood to be there) overturned tables, spilled money onto the floor and released other peoples' animals to run amok in the streets. Clark will be attacked by the same people who incessantly attacked Clinton for possibly toking a joint and coughing, yet forgave Bush for drunken driving and coke abuse; The same people who forgave Ahnold for molesting women. The same people who hounded Gary Hart Bill Clinton and Gary condit for affairs with consenting adults. Nobody has ever been perfect. Clark may be the only person who can win by a big enough majority to negate the election fraud we have learned to expect from Bush's party. anyone with any doubts of where I am coming from has been in hibernation for a century. I support General Clark as the last best hope to restore the Constitution and wrest power from the forces of evil. Have I made myself clear?
Slinging mud is the tactic normally used to tar decent people and clear the fireld for pond scum. I will campaign for, contribute money to and support General Clark. My love for the US Constitution demands I do so. I am one of those who funded the attempt at an actual HONEST Florida vote count, in 2000. (and got audited and persecuted as a result)

Well I doubt Clark had much choice at Waco. It isnt like he can just freelance with his bases personnel and send them where he wants. He was still under several layers of military leadership, which was then under Sec Army, and then under Clinton. However, not much positive has been said about him from people who served with him. The one common denominator it seems that is used to describe him is "Ambitious" Gen Hugh Shelton said there were character issues that resulted in Clark being brought back from Europe early while he was NATO commander, and absolutely would not vote for him. People who served with him said that getting crossways with him could result in your career being destroyed. And a British commander in Kosovo refused Clarks order to take an airfield from the Soviet, for fear it was going to start a war with them. Clark seemed to jump for the Democrats, because it seemed to be the only way he could run for presidency now. Two years ago he was saying how great he thought Bush was. He just changed to Democrat in time to run as one. I will have agree with Mech on Clark, but for different reasons. Clark just seems me to be very much an opportunist.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use. Too many whites are getting away with drug sales. Too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too." -- Rush Limbaugh show, Oct. 5, 1995 http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/03/10/ana03004.html And let's not forget that Limbaugh said recently that he thinks Bush's government is getting too large, very unlike his hero, Reagen's, adminstration. A falling out with the Neo-Cons perhaps?
