Reward offered to help find killer of Marine who earned Purple Heart in Iraq

LONG BEACH, Calif. - A $10,000 reward was offered Tuesday to help find the gunman who shot to death a Marine who was celebrating his return from Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Sok Khak Ung, 22, who was stationed at Camp Pendleton, and a family friend, Vouthy Tho, 21, of Long Beach, were shot early Sunday while partying in a garage at a Long Beach home.

A gunman reached over a wooden fence next to the garage and fired six to eight shots before fleeing, police said.

"I am outraged that someone would so cowardly gun down this brave soldier," said Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, who is offering the reward.

"Ung served his country well, protecting our freedoms in the war against terrorism," Knabe said. "His killers should be brought to justice."

Ung, of San Francisco, earned a Purple Heart after he was hit by shrapnel from a land mine in April in the Iraqi city of Nasiriyah, Camp Pendleton spokesman Bill Lisbon said Tuesday.

Lisbon said Ung also participated in the rescue of Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch. The combat engineer was part of a "diversion force" which attacked the enemy to distract them while a special force unit went into the hospital to rescue Lynch, Lisbon said.

Ung was set to complete his four years of military service on Oct. 31.

"This man had only 12 days left with the Marine Corps," Lisbon said. "It's sad to think he came back from the war to die in this country."

Tho, a 21-year-old aspiring rapper, who was about to release an album, was shot once in the head, officials said. He was pronounced dead Monday night after being hospitalized in critical condition, police spokesman Greg Schirmer said.

Was is so important to get your point across that you had to exaggerate a bit? You were in the military, you knew darn well Marines and Army are separate.

However joint operations have occured many times.

During one Marine assault in the Nam, for example
Army clerks, cooks, etc. were issued weapons and rushed to die alongside Marines.

As far as there being a possible connection
of these deaths with the Faux rescue?

Anyone who has cared to dig for facts is aware that Jessica Lynch was injured in an auto accident;
Was being well cared for by Iraqi Doctors and nurses;
Was "rescued" at gunpoint from her hospital bed, with no threat from the unarmed medical staff.
That the corpses mentioned in the
Wag-The-Dog fake rescue
were in the hospital morgue.
(All hospital morgues have bodies of those they were unable to save BTW)

There is no need to kill anyone to coverup the Lynch lie.

Only neo-con partisans and fools believe the Lynch lie to begin with.

The Heroic rescue of Lynch turns out to have been a fabrication, war propaganda.

"If they had come to the door and asked for Jessica, we would have gladly handed her over to them. There was no need for all that drama," said Dr. Hazem Rikabi, an internist.

There was no military in the hospital where Lynch was being treated.
The doctors were glad to have her returned to her country.
The reuters and ap reports were staged.
There was no battle.

The military and press colluded in a lie for the sake of generating some news coverage - wag the dog.

Nothing new.

I came home with an attitude like many returning vets.

Getting a traffic ticket, for example required a lot of control.
Being called "boy" by 'a draft dodging punk with a badge' was not easy to put up with.
The
"I could take him out without breaking a sweat."
attitude took a bit of counseling to get rid of.
I counseled, in turn, for V V A W, and still help convince on-the-edge veterans to seek VA assistance.
(often having to accompany a paranoid PTSD vet to the first few sessions with VA shrinks)

One Marine buddy still has the attitude over 30 years later.
I still get 3am calls from another when he's "losing it" and needs someone to talk to.
I recently bought all his guns from one vet buddy, just to disarm him and began taking him to the VA myself.

It takes an epiphany to realize one needs to learn to think like a civilian again and request counseling.

Perhaps these guys still had attitudes that only people carrying machine guns can successfully get away with.
