Intimidated by FBI....Florida Witness who knew Atta says 9-11 coverup in progress.

December 10--Venice, Florida
by Daniel Hopsicker

FBI agents harassed and intimidated witnesses to the 9/11 terrorist conspiracy’s activities in Florida, issuing warnings to avoid talking with reporters, say current and former residents in Venice, Florida.

At least one eyewitness, who knew Mohamed Atta because he lived next door for a time, received regular visits for over six months after the attack from FBI agents eager to ensure she continued to remain silent. Several said they felt unfairly singled out because what they saw and heard is at considerable variance with the official story of the terrorist cadre’s time in Florida.

An American girl named Amanda Keller, for example, briefly lived with Mohamed Atta in Venice, according to both local news reports and numerous eyewitnesses.

She possessed presumably ‘scorching-hot’ details of life with a terrorist ringleader. But we never saw her being interviewed by Diane Sawyer.

The FBI had other ideas. CONTINUED.....

Oh good, more reliable news from a site called Mad Cow Morning News which (surprise) sells conspiracy DVDs for $69, videos for $64, and books for $29.95. Most of the links on the main page take you to pages related to sales of his wares.

Seriously, Mech, are you paid a commission for each buyer you refer, or do you really use commercials for DVD products as your source of unbiased news?

Sorry if this is inflammatory, but please... The site is essentially a commercial for the conspiracy products he sells. Hardly a source of unbiased information.

So I'm not the first one to notice that almost all of the links from a few certain people here contain ads to "buy" their conspiracy products. I've noticed that quite a few are from the aforementioned "Mech"

I sure hope you are getting a good amount for referring all of these good people here to those sites so our IPs can be collected for SPAMMING purposes.

Better to get all news from non profits like FOX, CNN, CBS, CNBC, etc.
right?

Jerry Falwell sold many thousands of videotapes ("the Clinton chronicles")
which neo-cons gratefully bought because
they believed the "librul-noos-media" was just parroting the Administration's lies.

Well?

Most who read overseas news sources believe the amerikan media ARE just parroting the Administration's propaganda.

This ain't just consensual sex between adults.
This is about letting thousands of Americans die for political gain.

In all honesty, despite their bias, I do believe any of the above provide more real information than some site obviously setup to sell videos and DVDs.

I didn't say he won't make a killing, I just wouldn't give Mad Cow Morning News much more credibility than Jerry.

That doesn't mean we should just switch to someone elses propaganda.

Any of the above?

Fact-Free News

(washingtonpost.com)
This OpEd from Harold Myerson
puts some numbers to the effectiveness of the Ministry of Truth approach ....

In a series of polls from May through September,
the researchers discovered that large minorities of Americans entertained some highly fanciful beliefs about the facts of the Iraqi war.

Fully 48 percent of Americans believed that the United States had uncovered evidence demonstrating a close working relationship between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda.

Another 22 percent thought that we had found the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

And 25 percent said that most people in other countries had backed the U.S. war against Saddam Hussein.

Sixty percent of all respondents entertained at least one of these bits of dubious knowledge;
8 percent believed all three.

The fair and balanced folks at Fox,
the survey concludes,
were "the news source whose viewers had the most misperceptions."

Eighty percent of Fox viewers believed at least one of these un-facts;
45 percent believed all three.

Over at CBS,
71 percent of viewers fell for one of these mistakes,
but just 15 percent bought into the full trifecta.

And in the daintier precincts of PBS viewers and NPR listeners,
just 23 percent adhered to one of these misperceptions,
while a scant 4 percent entertained all three.

One more reason the actions of the FCC
(which are tending to concentrate news outlets into fewer and fewer hands -
- like Murdoch's) are important.

One question inevitably raised by these findings
is whether Fox News is failing or succeeding.

Over at CBS, the news that 71 percent of viewers hold one of these mistaken notions should be cause for concern,

but whether such should be the case at Fox
because 80 percent of their viewers are similarly mistaken
is not at all clear.

Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes and the other guys at Fox
have long demonstrated a clearer commitment to changing public policy than to reporting it,
and an even clearer commitment to reporting it in such a way as to change it.

Now, are the people who get their "news" from FOX pissed off that they are way more likely to be misinformed about the state of their world????

If not, why not?

(disclaimer: Unable to find anywhere this has been previously posted/ point is that like the fbi/ FOX et al are rightwing biased)

After reading this little piece, I think I'd rather stick to reading real and informative news from "other" sources!

Announcing The P.U.-Litzer Prizes for 2003
By Norman Solomon, AlterNet
December 22, 2003

The P.U.-litzer Prizes were established more than a decade ago to give recognition to the stinkiest media performances of the year.

As usual, I have conferred with Jeff Cohen, founder of the media watch group FAIR, to sift through the large volume of entries. In view of the many deserving competitors, we regret that only a few can win a P.U.-litzer.

And now, the 12th annual P.U.-litzer Prizes, for the foulest media performances of 2003:

Media Mogul of the Year – Lowry Mays, CEO of Clear Channel

While some broadcasters care about their programming, the CEO of America's biggest radio company (with more than 1,200 stations) admits he cares only about the ads. The Clear Channel boss told Fortune magazine in March: "If anyone said we were in the radio business, it wouldn't be someone from our company. We're not in the business of providing news and information. We're not in the business of providing well-researched music. We're simply in the business of selling our customers products."

Liberating Iraq Prize – Tom Brokaw

Interviewing a military analyst as U.S. jet bombers headed to Baghdad on the first day of the Iraq war, NBC anchor Brokaw declared: "Admiral McGinn, one of the things that we don't want to do is to destroy the infrastructure of Iraq, because in a few days we're going to own that country."

"The More You Watch, The Less You Know" Prize – Fox News Channel

According to a University of Maryland study, most Americans who get their news from commercial TV harbored at least one of three "misperceptions" about the Iraq war: that weapons of mass destruction had been discovered in Iraq, that evidence closely linking Iraq to Al Qaeda had been found, or that world opinion approved of the U.S. invasion. Fox News viewers were the most confused about key facts, with 80 percent embracing at least one of those misperceptions. The study found a correlation between being misinformed and being supportive of the war.

"Clear It with the Pentagon" Award – CNN

A month after the invasion of Iraq began, CNN executive Eason Jordan admitted on his network's "Reliable Sources" show (April 20) that CNN had allowed U.S. military officials to help screen its on-air analysts: "I went to the Pentagon myself several times before the war started and met with important people there and said, for instance – 'At CNN, here are the generals we're thinking of retaining to advise us on the air and off about the war' – and we got a big thumbs-up on all of them. That was important."

"Conservative Times for the 'Liberal' Media" Award – ABC News

Over the years, ABC correspondent John Stossel became known for one-sided, often-inaccurate reporting on behalf of his pro-corporate, "greed is good" ideology. He boasted that his on-air job was to "explain the beauties of the free market," received lecture fees from corporate pressure groups, and even spoke on Capitol Hill against consumer-protection regulation. In May of this year, when Stossel was promoted to co-anchor of ABC's "20/20," a network insider told TV Guide: "These are conservative times. ... The network wants somebody to match the times."

"Coddling Donald" Prize – CBS's Lesley Stahl, ABC's Peter Jennings and Others

On the day news broke about Saddam Hussein's capture, Stahl and Jennings each interviewed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. In step with their mainstream media colleagues, both failed to ask about Rumsfeld's cordial 1983 meeting with Hussein in Baghdad on behalf of the Reagan administration that opened up strong diplomatic and military ties between the U.S. government and the dictator that lasted through seven years of his worst brutality.

Military Groupie Prize – Katie Couric of NBC's "Today" Show

"Well, Commander Thompson," said Couric on April 3, in the midst of the invasion carnage, "thanks for talking with us at this very early hour out there. And I just want you to know, I think Navy SEALs rock."

Noblesse Oblige Occupation Award – Thomas Friedman, New York Times

In a Nov. 30 piece, Times columnist Friedman gushed that "this war (in Iraq) is the most important liberal, revolutionary U.S. democracy-building project since the Marshall Plan." He lauded the war as "one of the noblest things this country has ever attempted abroad." Friedman did not mention the estimated 112 billion barrels of oil in Iraq ... or the continuous deceptions that led to the "noble" enterprise.
