According to Wayne Sneedon a new act may affect EVERY U.S. citizen between the ages of 18 and 26 (including females). The act requires every U.S. citizen to perform a two-year period of national service, as either a member of an active or reserve component of the armed forces or in a civilian capacity that promotes national defense. This act, called the Universal National Service Act of 2003, or HR 163 was introduced on January 7, 2003 per the article. Mr. Sneedon says that the act can be found on the U.S. Congress website at (http://www.congress.gov).The Joke is No Longer Funny http://www.rense.com/general45/dsjok.htm

Yes, we posted about this act not too long ago! It is stuck in committee and hasn't reached any floor and probably won't. The Repubs. did not start the bill, Rangel and Hollings (if I recall), both Dems, started it, but it died. Most likely the Republicans will resurrect a similar bill, but much worse! Keep an eye out! CSpan is a good site to keep track of legislation. This bill hasn't come to any floor of either of the houses and is as good as dead! Wesley Clark is NOT in favor of a draft, neither is Dean. Kucinich definately is not in favor of a draft, either. But it is coming! Stay vigilent! Thanks! bc

Thanks, Moonstar,We have a copy of this act posted up at work and many are aware of it's potential significance. As was stated, it affects both men and women and I believe it affects all legal "residents" of the U.S., if I remember correctly. About the time the Fed starts drafting "Midwest farmer's daughters" here in the Heartland, I think were gonna have trouble. If I recall also the act gives Bush almost Dictatorial power in selecting who, what , when ,why and where as regards "service" conditions. I am considering more and more, becoming Amish, but probably even they won't be exempt under the Fourth Reich. SmT
