Greetings:

This evening I got to speak with 'notable' Iraqi conflict author Larry Everest on air concerning the Bush regime, the neo-Con agenda, and how Iraq, the Middle East, and especially oil play into "The New American Century".

I must say I am rarely in 100% agreement with ANYONE but I sure came close listening to Mr. Everest's intelligent IMO assessment of the events now unfolding in the Middle East and how WE ALL got there.

Mr. Everest made the point how *very essential* it is for the U.S. Empire to control the spigot of Iraq's oil and aquire and maintain bases there, not just for Haliburton, or Israel, or the Military/Industrials ALONE but for the MACRO picture of U>S> CONTINUED WORLD DOMINATION. IN other words as I asked him in sort of a 'devil's advocate type of way' what would have happened to the Empire (and possible whats left of the 'r'epublic) if the U.S. hadn't made a play and grab for the OIL and Land? I'm not defending this agression at all just reasonably wondering if the U.S. Empire in the strategist's mind (and maybe in reality) would have seriously lost out as the *world's 'only'superpower*?

Anyway here is a link and I'd like to hear any feedback on this. I fully support The REpublic but NOT wars of Foreign AGGRESSION unless there is NO REALISTIC OTHER CHOICE. And as the data now stands I think the administration had a BIG choice. They took the wrong path here, IMHO!

Excellent SmT! You were on the air AGAIN? You seem to do that often??? Good for you for speaking out!

I totally disagree with his idea that it is necessary for us to have a DOMINATING presence in the Middle East. With the created unease in the Middle East, our being there is probably a good idea. But like you aid, NOT for the reasons our administration has portraying as necessary. Whoever said that strength and power earns respect? It achieves the exact opposite! Besides, politics is just the Big Boys’ smoke screen to a higher agenda. So in reality, there is no right way to answer this question! LOL!

I will say that the nonviolent folks of the world agree that PNAC type of thinking will NEVER achieve what we all long for - peace. How many more deaths and broken families is it going to take before We The People wake up and take a stand and Just Say No? No to wars and the useless loss of life they cause. No to taking whatever mineral reserves we want from other countries. No to behaving like the terrorists we claim we are against. We CAN have our cake and eat it too! Yes, it would definitely take worldwide cooperation and reconditioning from every major player and country. But unfortunately, as long as we blindly follow the aggressive behavior of a few, peace will never reign for the many.

JBE, I concur with your sentiments regarding how for the vast majority of wars for resources and Empire, wars are still as they have been for thousands of years a greatly losing proposition for the People of The World. Only The Profiteers it seems come out *winning*.

Neither Mr. Everest (nor myself by asking the question) was of course an any way suggesting that it is "intinsically necessary" for the U.S. to have control over the entire middle east, quite the contrary. Did you happen to have a chance to see Mr. Everest's website? He seems to have a great understanding of the Empire's desire to expand and consolidate resources (oil mainly) and set up bases, (NOT HIS desire). And I simply for the (sake of understanding asked what would have happened if the the U.S. had of allowed China, Russia, France, etc. to keep contracts for oil with Saddam after the sanctions had been lifted. Would this have caused the U.S. to decline in world "dominance"? I am not suggesting either way this is a 'good path or a bad path" as regards immediate (and long term affects) but questions like this need to be asked and answered out in public for the FULL situation to be analyzed. Personally as I have said so many times I think this Iraq war is both strictly speaking and perhaps generally illegal and MOST unethical. But THat in itself doesn't stop me from inquiring into the depths of a more 'complete' understanding.

Kevin! That’s not true! There are MANY times that someone posts an article that gets views but no responses. Also, posts within a thread don’t always get a response. It happens to all of us! But I do admit if someone is baiting me or just being an obvious pain in the butt, I will ignore them. But you do not have that baiting nature within your make up so you are not being ignored purposefully. We all know your favorite subject is spirit. It’s a delicate topic and at times it’s best NOT to say something. That’s like me with symbolism (not just numerological either), I hardly EVER discuss that here because it’s a touchy subject and most people just don’t get it anyway. So my friend, STOP being a brat! ha! You’d better be smiling!
